Barcelona are out of the Champions League, as expected. To come behind the 3 goal deficit you need a bit of miracle, a bit of help from the football gods and a lot of efficiency in front of goal, which Barcelona missed tonight. Nonetheless, the spectators should not be disappointed, because deep down everyone knew Barça weren’t capable of winning the tie, however blaugranas competed, that’s all we asked.
Proud of collective’s performance, especially in the first half, a massive improvement from the first game. Effective at pressing, better understanding of what positions had to be occupied, great during transitions. Barça didn’t give much opportunities to PSG. We could score much more than a goal. But efficiency remains to be THE problem.
In the second half rhythm was slow. PSG realized what they had to do to kill the game and make Barcelona as much uncomfortable as possible. They didn’t defend as deep, Verrati & Paredes brought much more stability and balance to the team. Instead of being reactive, PSG became proactive, more methodological.
If Dembélé capitalized his opportunities, If Lionel Messi scored penalty, If Lenglet never made a foul, we could go on & on. But with the available resources and players at Koeman’s disposal Blaugranas did the best they could. We analyzed past mistakes, improved, delivered a better performance. Onwards and upwards, rebuilding has just begun.
In the bottom line, FC Barcelona are out of the Champions League. But we can feel very proud and optimistic after the last week that we had
