January 1

1884 – José Quirante is born. Furthermore, he made 40 Liga appearances for the club from 1901-09 and 1910-23, scoring 18 goals.

1902 – Gamper and Steinberg both score hat-tricks as Barça win 8-0 at home to Universitari in the Campionat de Catalunya. Garcia (2) the other scorer.

1903 – Gamper scores 8, Steinberg 5 as Barcelona defeat Catalonia 16-0 in a friendly. Osso (2) and Lassaleta the other scorers.

1913 – Edelmira Calveto becomes the first female soci 

1933 – Ángel Arocha gives Barça the lead at Les Corts before Luis Regueiro equalises for Madrid to make it 1-1.

1972 – Lilian Thuram is born. Although he’s less a club’s legend, he made 41 Liga appearances for the club from 2006-08.

1978 – Nicolae Simatoc dies

2014 – Josep Seguer dies

January 2

1884 – Jack Greenwell is born. Made 88 Liga appearances from 1912-16 and coached the club from 1931-33.

1944 – The first Clásico of the year sees Barça win 1-0 away at Estadio Chamartín, José Valle Mas with the goal in the 50th minute.

1988 – Hugo Sanchez scores twice in 2-1 win for Real Madrid against Barcelona at the in Bernabéu La Liga. Schuster the scorer for Barça.

2013 – Johan Cruyff ends his coaching career as Catalunya draw 1-1 with Nigeria.

2016 – Barcelona are held to a 0-0 draw away at Espanyol in La Liga.

January 3

1915 – The first recorded game between Catalunya and the Basque Country finishes in a 6-1 win for the Euskadi XI at San Mamés Stadium.

1933 – Josep Samitier signs for Real Madrid.

1967 – Ramón Zabalo dies

1980 – The signing of Roberto Dinamite is announced. More on him here.

1989 – Jordi Masip is born. Although not a club legend, he did make 1 Liga appearance for the club from 2014-17.

1999 – Barcelona beat CD Alaves 7-1 at home in La Liga with goals from Figo, Rivaldo (2), Luis Enrique (2) and Oscar (2). 

January 4

1930 – Barça lost 5-0 away to Arenas Club de Guecho in the league. threfore, thi result that leaves them bottom of the table.

1996 – Nadal and Oscar score. Therefore, Barcelona defeat Espanyol 2-1 at the Camp Nou. 

1997 – Pizzi scores the only goal of the game in the 89th minute at Riazor against Deportivo.

January 5

1930 – Barça’s first match of the new year sees them beat Atlético 4-2 at Les Corts. Noreover, two goals each from Sastre and Bestit.

1945 – José Luis Romero is born. Moreover, he made 12 Liga appearances from 1970-71 and coached the club in 1983.

1947 – Barcelona beat reigning champions Sevilla 5-1 at home in La Liga with goals from Bravo (2), Amoros, Cesar and Seguer.

1975 – Roberto Martínez scores only goal of game at the Bernabéu as Real Madrid defeat Barça 1-0. 

1998 – Carles Aleñá is born.

2015 – Andoni Zubizarreta leaves his position as Director of Football for FC Barcelona. It happens after four years in the job.

January 6

1902 – Barça concede their only two goals of the season’s Campionat de Catalunya away to defending champions Hispània in a 4-2 victory.

1914 – Industria plays host to a 2-2 draw between Real Madrid and Barcelona. P. Wallace and Allack the scorers.

1933 – Justo Tejada is born. Moreover, he made 149 Liga appearances for the club from 1952-61.

1943 – Terry Venables is born. Moreover, he coached the club from 1984-87.

1966 – Barça defeat Sabadell 5-0 at home in La Liga with goals from Benitez (2), Fuste (2) and Zaldua.

1994 – Denis Suárez is born. Furthermore, he 46 Liga appearances for the club from 2016-19, scoring 3 goals.

2013 – Goals from Xavi, Pedro (2) and Messi (pen) see Barça beat Espanyol 4-0 in La Liga.

2016 – Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal finally make their debuts in Barcelona’s 4-1 Copa win over Espanyol. 

2018 – Barcelona finally complete the signing of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. 

January 7

1958 – Laszlo Kubala sends a letter to the board offering to coach and play simultaneously.

1995 – Michael Laudrup returns to haunt Barcelona. Therefore Real Madrid win 5-0. 

2013 – Lionel Messi wins his fourth Balon d’Or title. 

2015 – Barcelona president Bartomeu announces that there will be elections this year

January 8

1911 – Jorge Patullo scores a hat-trick as Barça win 4-2 away at Espanya in the Campionat de Catalunya. P. Wallace the other scorer.

1939 – Barça’s last game of Republican Spain takes place against Martinenc, with a reserve team winning 3-1.

1977 – Francesco Coco is born. Made 23 Liga appearances for the club from 2001-02, scoring 1 goal.

1984 – Diego Maradona returns from three months out after the Goikoetxea injury, scoring twice and leading the team to a 3-1 victory at home to Sevilla. 

1994 – Romario (3), Koeman and Ivan all score as Barcelona defeat Real Madrid 5-0.

1998 – Barcelona win 2-0 in the first leg of the European Super Cup final at Camp Nou against Champions League winners Borussia Dortmund. Luis Enrique and Rivaldo (pen) the scorers. 

2006 – Barça go away to Espanyol and win 2-1 in La Liga with goals from Deco and Eto’o. 

2011 – Former Barcelona player Ángel Pedraza dies aged 48 from cancer. With FCB he won ‘88 Spanish Cup and ‘86 League Cup.

2012 – Barça go away to Estadi Cornellà-el Prat and draw 1-1 with Espanyol. Cesc the scorer.

2014 – Lionel Messi returns from injury and scores twice. Therefore Barcelona beat Getafe 4-0 in the Copa del Rey. 

2015 – Barcelona score five goals in 25 minutes either side of the interval to make next Thursday’s second leg against Elche a formality in the Copa del Rey at Camp Nou.

2019 – FC Barcelona announce the signing of French centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

January 9

1910 – C. Comamala scores five, Wallace a hat-trick as Barcelona win 8-0 away to Star in the Campionat de Catalunya.

1949 – Barcelona win 3-1 at home to Real Madrid. Furthermore, Cesar scores twice as Estanislao Basora also scores in his third-straight Clásico. Therefore Barça take their Clásico unbeaten run to five.

2012 – Pep Guardiola is named FIFA World Coach of the Year.

January 10

1914 – Goals from Alcantara and Allack see Barça win 2-0 over Real Madrid at Campo de O’Donnell.

1932 – Ramon scores a hat-trick as Barça beat CD Alavés 6-0 at home in La Liga. Sagi, Arnau and Arocha the other scorers.

1943 – Though Barcelona lead 4-2 at half-time, the second Clásico of the season ends in a 5-5 draw. Moreover, Barça goals from Mariano Martín (2), Josep Escola, and José Valle Mas (2).

1951 – Rafael Zuviría is born. Furthermore, had 119 Liga appearances for the club from 1977-82, scoring 11 goals.

1954 – Barça defeat Real Sociedad 6-0 at home in La Liga. Moreover, goals from Tejada (3), Basora (2) and Manchon.

2010 – Messi scores a hat-trick as Barça go away to CD Tenerife and win 5-0 in La Liga. Puyol and Luna (og) with the other goals. 

2013 – David Villa scores his 250th and 251st career goals as Barça beat Cordoba 5-0 in the Copa del Rey.

January 11

1903 – Joan Gamper scores five as Barça begin the Copa Barcelona with a 7-0 win over Iberia SC. Osso and Lassaleta the other scorers.

1921 – 3-0 win over Real Madrid at Industria. Goals Gracia (2), Piera.

1931 – Barça beat Espanyol 6-2 at home, a result that lifts them from bottom spot in the table, where they are replaced by Espanyol.

1942 – Barça are beaten 2-1 at home by Espanyol in La Liga. Martin the scorer for Barcelona.

1970 – Vic Buckingham takes over as coach, a position he holds until 1972.

1981 – Espanyol beat Barça 1-0 at Sarria in La Liga.

2015 – Messi, Suarez and Neymar score for the first time together in a league game (3-1 vs Atletico). 

2016 – Lionel Messi wins a record fifth Ballon d’Or. 

2017 – Luis Suarez scores his 100th goal for Barcelona (in 120 games). Moreover, it happened in a 3-1 Copa win over Athletic Club.

January 12

1930 – Barcelona draw 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao at Les Corts. Piera with the goal.

1957 – The first game between CD Condal (affiliate of FC Barcelona before their promotion) and Barça takes place at Les Corts, with Barça as the ‘away’ team, ending 1-1.

1961 – Enrique Orizaola is installed as manager, replacing Brocic.

1967 – Meho Kodro is born. Moreover, he made 32 Liga appearances for the club from 1995-96, scoring 9 goals.

1969 – Robert Prosinečki is born, Made 20 Liga appearances for the club from 1995-96, scoring 4 goals. However, people remember him as one of the few players to mover directly from Real Madrid.

2008 – Pedro makes his debut as a substitute for Samuel Eto’o in a 4-0 win against Murcia in La Liga. 

January 13

1934 – Espanyol beat Barça 3-2 at Sarrià in La Liga. Ventolra with the goals for Barcelona.

1947 – Carles Rexach is born. Made 328 Liga appearances from 1967-81, scoring 81 goals and coached the club in 1991 and from 2001-02.

1952 – Barça beat Atlético de Madrid 5-2 at home in La Liga with goals from Vila (2), Manchon, Gonzalvo and Basora.

1980 – Espanyol beat Barcelona 2-0 in La Liga 

1992 – Italian sportswear company Kappa sign a contract with FC Barcelona to supply the club’s kits

1997 – Barcelona lose 3-2 at home to eventually-relegated Hercules. Real Madrid drew the day before giving Barça the chance to regain the leadership but it was not taken.

2007 – Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys plays host to a 3-1 win for Espanyol over Barça. 

2013 – With a 3-1 win over Malaga, Barça set a new record of the best first round in the history of La Liga (18 wins, 1 draw). 

2016 – Munir scores twice. Therefore Barcelona go through in the Copa against Espanyol, winning 2-0. 

2019 – Leo Messi nets his 400th La Liga goal. FC Barcelona wins 3-0 against Eibar.

2020 – Ernesto Valverde is replaced by former Real Betis head coach Quique Setien as manager of FC Barcelona.

January 14

1912 – After defeat in their last competitive game, Barcelona begin the new year with a 12-0 win over FC Numancia in the Campionat de Catalunya. Staub (5), Amechazurra (2), Rodriguez (4) & Forns other scorers

1940 – Barcelona are beaten 7-5 away at San Mamés by Athletic Bilbao in La Liga. Moreover, Pascual (3), Rocasolano and Rosalench are the scorers for Barça.

1951 – Barça suffer a 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid. However, Canal with the consolation goal.

1979 – Barça win 9-0 at home to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga with goals from Krankl (5), Neeskens (2), Asensi and Carrasco. 

1982 – Víctor Valdés is born. Moreover, he made 387 Liga appearances for the club from 2002-14.

2017 – Barcelona brush aside Las Palmas with a 5-0 win at Camp Nou.

2018 – Barcelona win at Anoeta (4-2) in La Liga for first time in ten years.

2018 – Aged just 16 years, 5 months and 2 days, Claudia Pina becomes the youngest player to ever play for FC Barcelona Femení in their 2-0 win over Zaragoza.

January 15

1933 – Barcelona draw 1-1 with Espanyol at Les Corts. Moreover, Helguera was the scorer for Barça.

1950 – Basora and Cesar both score but Bar�aBarça are beaten 3-2 by Real Madrid at Les Corts.

1991 – Marc Bartra born Made 59 Liga appearances for the club from 2010-16, scoring 5 goals.

January 16

1910 – Barcelona win 12-0 at home to FC Central in the Campionat de Catalunya with goals from Forns 3, C. Comamala 5, Wallace 3, Llonc.

1920 – Former Barcelona player (1944-50) and coach (1963) Josep Gonzalvo is born.

1935 – Former Barcelona coach (1981-83) Udo Lattek is born.

1947 – Quique Costas is born. Made 170 Liga appearances for the club from 1971-80, scoring 3 goals.

1959 – Ramón Calderé is born. Made 110 Liga appearances for the club from 1984-88, scoring 15 goals.

1980 – Seydou Keita is born. Made 119 Liga appearances for the club from 2008-12, scoring 16 goals.

2014 – Xavi plays in his 700th match for Barcelona, a 2-0 Copa victory over Getafe. 

January 17

1939 – the Board of Directors decided to name Josep Sunyol FC Barcelona President in absentia.

1955 – Esteban Vigo is born. Made 166 Liga appearances for the club from 1977-87, scoring 18 goals.

1968 – Narcis de Carreras becomes president of FC Barcelona. Upon making his acceptance speech, he coined the phrase “mes que un club!“ 

1970 – Xabier Eskurza is born. Made 15 Liga appearances for the club from 1994-95.

2009 – Barça beat Deportivo de A Coruña 5-0 at home in La Liga. Moreover, goals from Messi, Eto’o (2) and Henry (2). 

2016 – Barcelona gain revenge for the Supercopa defeat with a 6-0 win over Athletic Club at Camp Nou. Suarez (3), Messi, Neymar, and Rakitic with the goals. 

January 18

1931 – Barça are held to a 1-1 draw away at Real Club de Irún.

1954 – Antonio Olmo is born. Made 188 Liga appearances for the club from 1976-84, scoring 4 goals.

1971 – Former Barcelona player (1990-2001) and coach (2008-12) Pep Guardiola is born.

1971 – Pablo Maqueda is born. Although not a club legend, he made 3 Liga appearances for the club from 1991-93.

2003 – Barcelona lose 4-2 at Camp Nou to ten man Valencia. Therefore fans vent anger smashing windows and throwing missiles. Afterwards members of Boixos Nois smashed windows and doors at stadium and attacked journalists and a van. Therefore, Van Gaal lasted only one more game (Celta Vigo) with the team three points above the relegation zone. 

2012 – Goals from Puyol and Abidal give Barça a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabéu in the Copa QF first leg. 

January 19

1902 – Barça win away at Espanyol 4-0 in the Campionat de Catalunya with goals from Gamper (2), Garcia and Steinberg.

1930 – A Gallart hat-trick helps Espanyol beat Barça 4-0 in the Liga at Sarrià.

1936 – Enrique Fernández plays in a testimonial for Josep Samitier against SK Sidenice of Czechoslovakia. Other players in the Catalan XI that day included Sagibarba and Balmanya.

1965 – Juan Carlos Rodríguez is born. Made 55 Liga appearances for the club from 1991-94.

1983 – Marcos Alonso scores the only goal of the game in Barça’s victory over European Cup winners Aston Villa at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the European Super Cup. 

1991 – Barça seal a 2-1 win over Madri with goals from Laudrup and a Spasić own goal. 

1992 – Txiki, Laudrup, Stoichkov and Koeman all score as Barça beat Espanyol 4-3 at home in La Liga. 

1997 – Barça give Betis a 2-0 lead in the first 30 minutes. However, Luis Enrique with hat trick and a 73rd min Ronaldo goal send Barcelona to victory.

2013 – Lionel Messi scores in his tenth straight game but cannot stop Barcelona losing 3-2 away to Real Sociedad. 

2017 – Barcelona end a ten year wait for a win at Real Sociedad, edging a 1-0 win.

January 20

1885 – Charles Wallace is born. Moreover, he made 25 Liga appearances for the club from 1907-11 and 1913-15, scoring 29 goals.

1901 – Barça suffers a 2-1 home defeat to eventual champions Hispània AC in their first game of the inaugural Campionat de Catalunya.

1980 – Roberto Dinamite strikes twice on his debut for the club. Therefore, the matches ended with a win over Almeria at Camp Nou in La Liga.

1985 – Barça are held to a 0-0 draw by Espanyol away in La Liga.

1987 – Víctor Vázquez is born. Although not a club legend, he made 1 appearance for the club in 2008.

1988 – Jeffren is born. Although he’s best known for the 5th goal in the 2010/11 ‘Manita’ over Real madrid, he made 22 Liga appearances for the club from 2008-11, scoring 3 goals.

1995 – Sergi Samper is born. Made 1 Liga appearance for the club from 2014-19.

1997 – Ronaldo is presented as FIFA World Player of the Year, with George Weah 2nd and Alan Shearer 3rd. 

2020 – Quique Setién’s first match as Barcelona head coach has a familiar hero as captain Leo Messi sinks Granada with the only goal of the game in La LIga.

January 21

1901 – Ricardo Zamora is born. Played for the club from 1919-22.

1912 – Eventual champions Espanyol hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in the Campionat de Catalunya. Staub the scorer for Barça.

1918 – Former Barcelona coach (1964-65) Vicente Sasot is born.

1946 – Miguel Reina is born. Made 111 Liga appearances for the club from 1966-73. Therefore, he’s known as one of the club’s best goalkeepers ever.

1962 – Evaristo scores twice, Kocsis once as Barça beat Real Madrid 3-1 at the Camp Nou. Felix Ruiz scored an 86th minute consolation for Madrid.

1964 – Ricardo Serna is born Made 101 Liga appearances for the club from 1988-92, scoring 2 goals.

1968 – RCD Espanyol beat Barça 1-0 at Estadio Sarrià in La Liga.

2004 – Juan Zambudio Velasco dies

2018 – Barcelona score five second half goals in a 5-0 win at Real Betis. 

January 22

1907 – Former Barcelona player (1928-35) and coach (1941-42) Ramón Guzmán is born.

1977 – Toni Velamazán is born. Although he’s not a club legend, he did make 11 Liga appearances for the lub from 1996-96, scoring 3 goals.

1998 – FC Barcelona record a 3-1 away win over Valencia in the Copa del Rey 1/8 final second leg.

2014 – Lionel Messi sets up all three of Cristian Tello’s goals as he makes his 400th appearance in Barcelona’s 4-1 Copa win over Levante. 

2017 – Denis Suárez scores his first goal for the senior team in a 4-0 away win over Eibar.

January 23

1910 – Wallace scores the only goal of the game as Barcelona win 1-0 at home to Universitary in the Campionat de Catalunya

1977 – Barça beat Racing Santander 7-0 at home in La Liga with goals from Cruyff (2), Neeskens (2), Sanchez, Asensi and Clares. 

2014 – Sandro Rosell resigns as president of FC Barcelona following the furore over the Neymar transfer, to be replaced by VP Bartomeu.

2019 – FC Barcelona announce the signing of Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong, who will arrive in the summer. 

January 24

1909 – Barça win 1-0 at home to X in the Campionat de Catalunya. Forns with the goal.

1955 – Jesús Landáburu is born. Made 61 Liga appearances for the club from 1979-82, scoring 13 goals.

1970 – Roberto Bonano is born. Made 51 Liga appearances for the club from 2001-03.

1982 – Quini scores league goal number 3000 for Barça against Club Deportivo Castellón in a 4-3 win at the Camp Nou.  

1985 – Jesús Olmo is born. Although he’s not a club legend, he did have 2 Liga appearances for the club from 2006-08.

1987 – Luis Suárez is born

1999 – Rivaldo is named FIFA World Player of the Year 

January 25

1903 – Barça again win in the second game of the Copa Barcelona, 2-1 at home to Català.

1942 – Two goals from Manuel Alday see Barça beaten 2-0 at Les Corts by Real Madrid.

1948 – Barça concede twice in the second half, but goals from Seguer, Basora (2), and César prove enough to beat Madrid 4-2 at Les Corts.

1980 – Xavi is born. Made 505 Liga appearances for the club from 1998-2015, scoring 58 goals.

1984 – Barcelona Atlètic hold Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw at a sold out Mini Estadi in the Copa del Rey.

1996 – Adama is born. Made 1 Liga appearance for the club from 2013-15.

January 26

1926 – FC Barcelona propose to Richard Kohn (‘Little Dombi’) that he become coach of the club.

1930 – Barça are beaten 4-1 at Les Corts by Real Madrid in La Liga.

1939 – Barcelona falls to Franco’s Nationalist troops, the rest of Catalunya follows soon after. More here.

1941 – Barcelona are beaten 3-1 away at Espanyol in La Liga.

1955 – A Catalan XI featuring guest players Laszlo Kubala and Alfredo Di Stéfano beat Bologna 6-2 at Les Corts, with two goals for the former and one for the latter. Villaverde also played.

1983 – Barcelona are defeated 3-0 at Aston Villa in the European Super Cup final, losing the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

1995 – Vic Buckingham, manager 1969-70, dies aged 79. Obituary here

1997 – Barça defeat Rayo Vallecano 6-0 with goals from Luis Enrique, Sergi, Ronaldo (3), Pizzi. 

2003 – Barça lose 2-0 away to Celta Vigo, leaving them 20 points behind Liga leaders Real Sociedad and near the relegation zone, sealing Van Gaal’s exit from the club.

2012 – A 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou. Therefore Barça knock out defending Copa del Rey champions Real Madrid in the QF. 

January 27

1901 – Gamper scores a poker. Therefore Barça win the first derbi barceloní of the inaugural Campionat de Catalunya against Espanyol 4-1.

1949 – Ladislao Kubala flees Hungary in a military truck, disguised as a Soviet soldier. 

1957 – Kubala scores a hat-trick as Barcelona win away to Deportivo de La Coruña 6-1 in La Liga. Martinez (2) and Bosch the other scorers.

1963 – Cayetano Ré equalises in the first half at Camp Nou but Barça are defeated 5-1 by goals from Puskás (3), Di Stéfano, and Gento.

1991 – Barça beat RCD Espanyol 5-2 at home in La Liga thanks to goals from Bakero (2), Laudrup (2) and Salinas.

2003 – Louis van Gaal leaves the club for the second time 

2013 – Lionel Messi hits his 200th league goal, scoring in a record-breaking eleventh consecutive game in Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Osasuna at Camp Nou. 

January 28

1918 – Former Barcelona coach (1954-55) Sandro Puppo is born.

1934 – Real Madrid beat Barça 4-0 at Chamartín, Josep Samitier is again among the scorers against his old club.

1940 – Both teams score in the first five minutes, but Real Madrid claim a 2-1 victory at Estadio Chamartín.

January 29

1881 – Juan de Urruela y Morales is born. Played for the club from 1899-1900.

1966 – Romário is born. Made 46 Liga appearances for the club from 1993-95, scoring 34 goals.

1984 – Diego Maradona again faces Athletic Club after the Goikoetxea incident. Furthermore, he scores twice in 2-1 win, in which a record 50 fouls were committed between the two teams

1989 – Barça are held to a 2-2 draw away at Espanyol in La Liga. Bakero and Amor the scorers.

2011 – Lionel Messi becomes the third top scorer for Barça in the League with 109 goals, overtaking Eto’o (108), scoring in a 3-0 win over Hercules CF.

January 30

1938 – A bombing raid takes place over Barcelona. Plaça St. Felip Neri is particularly badly hit, over twenty children dying as they attempted to flee.

1972 – Barça beat Espanyol 2-0 in La Liga at home with goals from Marcial and Rexach.

1977 – FC Barcelona play out a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid. Madrid claim the lead with a penalty before Cruyff equalises in the sixteenth minute in the first Clásico of the season. 

1980 – Barça are defeated 1-0 at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground. Defeat by a ninth minute Charlie George goal in the first leg of the European Super Cup.  

1987 – Arda Turan is born. Although far from a club legend, he made 36 Liga appearances for the club since 2015, scoring 5 goals.

1997 – Barça defeat Real Madrid 3-2 in the CdR last 16 first leg. Scorers: Ronaldo (13), Miguel Nadal (70), Giovanni (79). Therefore, this win ends Madrid’s nine-month unbeaten run. 

2000 – Barça hold Espanyol to a 1-1 draw away in La Liga. Kluivert the scorer. 

2013 – Barça draw 1-1 with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey. Cesc the scorer. 

2019 – Barcelona overturn another Copa first leg defeat with a 6-1 (6-3 agg) win over Sevilla

January 31

1932 – Two goals from Manuel Olivares see Real Madrid win 2-0 at Estadio Chamartín.

1987 – Gary Lineker scores a hat-trick, two goals scored in the first five minutes. Therefore those goals helped Barça in a 3-2 win over Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. 

1990 – Barcelona draw 0-0 with Real Oviedo in La Liga. Moreover, La Masia product Delfi Geli makes his only appearance for the club.

2003 – Radomir Antic (formerly Atletico and Real Madrid manager) is appointed coach. He’s replacing Van Gaal. Option of second term depending on results. 

2003 – The club also announce board meeting to discuss date for general meeting. It came after ex-director Ramon Fusté proposes a vote of no-confidence in the board. Fusté calls Gaspart the worst president in the history of the club.
