The summer of 2021 is looking like an entertaining couple of months as the Euro squad are getting unfolded with every passing day. There are quite a few Barcelona players who will look to make an impact coming in to the euros. Several players from the Catalan side have been called up by their managers to defend their national flags, fight it out for if not the most iconic European competitions to ever grace this world.
Players called up to represent their national sides
France
Deschamps once again has showen his trust in Barcelona players as he has always done with France being on a great form in international level after winning the world cup in 2018 they would be looking to win the Euros and be one of the best teams to ever grace this planet.
Griezmann, the Frenchman has always faced the task when it comes to playing for the national team of France. In the friendlies Griezmann bagged 2 goals in 2 games where Griezmann showed a lot of maturity with good positioning. He is someone fans should look out for as he can have an excellent Euros campaign with the Les blues this time.
Lenglet has been called up by the national team, After a disaster of a start to the season with Barcelona Lenglet is looking to regain the form he had lost, Lenglet later in the season after a change in the system played with a lot more freedom and had a good 2021 He will be used as a 2nd to 3rd choice cb. France has a lot of competition on every
position lenglet will have to fight for his place.
Dembele has been called up after having a fairly injury free season with the Blaugrana. Moreover, he is an asset for the French national team as a key rotation player to inject pace and energy on the wings. It has to be seen how much game time Dembele can get under his belt. Giroud and resurgence of Benzema in the national team with Coman are all there to take his spot, Dembele needs to fight for his spot under Deschamps but it is to be seen what role Dembele plays with the French team.
Spain
Luis Enrique taking a different path than usual has decided to not take a single Real Madrid player. A big surprise for many as Ramos too couldn’t make the team. However, Barcelona talent Pedri has a chance to prove his worth to the Spanish national team as a key part of the midfield trio after having a dream of a season with the club of his dreams, Pedri has proven to be an asset for the future of Barcelona and for the Spanish national team as well.
Sergio busquets unfortunately came in contact with Coronavirus. The Spanish team expects their captains return to the camp in 2 week’s time. Therefore, he will be part of the squad for the Euro competition. We wish Sergio a speedy recovery.
Jordi Alba a great Veteran of the game of football has also been called up by Luis Enrique. He had a Fantastic season with Barcelona this year. Jordi played with great will and was a big threat from the left flanks of Barcelona. It is to be seen who starts the games for Spain as a left back between Alba and Gaya.
Eric Garcia a new signing is a great prospect who already took part of the La Masia academy. He is a defender with Spanish playstyle. The player has good chance of being part of the starting 11/substitutes. A prospect it looks like Luis Enrique will use at it’s very best.
Netherlands
The young Dutch team has been known for having special talent where this year. Netherlands are back in a major Euro competition after not making the World Cup 2018. Moreover, the team includes FC Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong who plays a prominent role in the Dutch team. The 25 year old had nothing less than a dream season with Barcelona and has new rhythm with his game. A player to look out for.
Denmark
They might not be fan favorites to have a run in the Euro. But the team has some good form and a talent. Martin Braithwaite has had a good goal scoring form with Denmark while getting a great goal against Bosnia Herzegovina just days ago, A hardworking player and a great mentality are some great characteristics of Martin.
