La Masia is more than a training center; it is a symbol of excellence recognized around the world. When people talk about a “La Masia player,” they mean a footballer shaped by FC Barcelona’s philosophy of talent, humility, and intelligence. Yet not all youth players experience this journey in the same way. Some live at home with their families, while others take the full step of residing in La Masia Centre de Formació Oriol Tort, the true home of Barça’s academy.
Among the newest residents is Orian Goren, a 16-year-old midfielder from Savyon, Israel, who plays for Juvenil A. Due to family and logistical reasons, Orian has moved into La Masia alongside other young talents such as Hugo Galdeano, Isma Ziani, Byron Mendoza, Pedro Villar, and Dro. There, surrounded by top educators, psychologists, and mentors, he continues to grow as both a footballer and a person.
From Savyon to Barcelona: A Dream in Progress
Orian’s dream of playing for Barça began in his early childhood. Now, living in La Masia marks a crucial step in that journey. His technical quality, vision, and intelligence on the ball have already impressed Pol Planas, who considers him a key part of the Juvenil A setup. Despite being only 16, Orian has already trained with the first team, a clear sign of his potential and maturity.
Internationally, Orian is also making headlines. During the recent international break, he represented Israel’s U19 national team, playing three matches against Austria, Slovenia, and Luxembourg. Despite being one of the youngest players in the squad, he started two games and played a total of 135 minutes, proving that his development is ahead of schedule.
Shining in Youth Competitions
In the UEFA Youth League, Orian has played in Barça’s first two victories, totaling 88 minutes in Europe’s top youth competition. In the domestic league, he has been a starter in three of four matches, scoring one goal and standing out for his composure and creativity in midfield.
Although, by age, he could still be part of Juvenil B, Orian has already secured his place in the Juvenil A squad. His adaptability allows him to perform in several roles: as an interior midfielder (8 or 10) in Barça’s 4-3-3 system, and as a left interior or even a left winger when needed, as he showed against PSG after the expulsion of Álex Campos.
Growing On and Off the Pitch
Living in La Masia has also helped Orian balance football and academics. Known for his discipline, he excels in his studies and maintains top marks while dedicating himself fully to training and competition. Coaches and teammates describe him as humble, mature, and extremely focused on improving every day.
Orian joined Barça from Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2022 and holds dual Israeli and Czech nationality. His progress since then has been remarkable, and his presence in La Masia represents more than a personal achievement. It is a reminder of the academy’s ongoing mission to nurture young talents who combine technical brilliance with human values.
According to La Masia expert Jaume Marcet, Orian Goren embodies the spirit of La Masia: passion, dedication, and intelligence both on and off the field. At only 16 years old, he is already living the dream that many aspire to. If he continues along this path, it may not be long before his name echoes beyond the walls of La Masia and into the Camp Nou.
