Getafe Vs Barça- Match Preview
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatApp

As we head into the final two games of the season, with champions league football for next season fully secured. Our final goal for the season is cement our position as 2nd in the table. Which would mean qualification for next years Spanish Supercup. When you consider where and how we began the season, finishing off in second place would be a huge success. And although we haven’t been able to win anything. I think you can consider this season as a success.

We’ve finally got the manager and coach we can trust and believe him. The squad is filled with young talent. Talent that can mark an era at this club. We just need to keep building and growing as a team. So like I said before, finishing in second would be a solid result for the end of this season. And will give us all the tools to continue building inwards from next season.

Aiming to secure the 2nd place

The way in which Barça can cement our position in the table is with a positive result against Getafe. Tomorrow night at 7:30pm local time, Barça will be facing Getafe away from home. As we play our penultimate game of the season. We come into this contest with a long list of absentees. Be that with injuries or suspensions. We are really down to our bare bones right now. Due to the fact that we have guaranteed our place in the champions league next season.

There isn’t really too much importance in this game. Apart from qualifying for second place, there isn’t much else up for grabs. So, this could be a good opportunity to see some different faces in the first team squad. Names like Alejandro Balde, Jandro Orellana and Mika Marmol spring to mind. It’s going to be a testing game, but one we should be expecting to get a good result out of. Finishing the season off on the best note is the most important thing. So We’ll be hoping to get one step closer to that tomorrow night.

A look at our opponent

In terms of our opponent, Getafe have had a relatively solid season. They currently sit in 15th place, with 38 points to their name. They haven’t won a game in the league for 3 games however. And have only won once in their last five. The last time Barça came up against Getafe was way back at the beginning of the season. At a time when Ronald Koeman was the coach of Barcelona. The game ended in a 2-1 win for Barça. With goals from Sergi Roberto and Memphis. So, not only could there be a few debuts from some reserve players tomorrow. But the game will also see Xavi coach for the first time against Getafe. A day for debuts.

❗Follow what Xavi had to say in the final press conference before the match against Getafe tomorrow :

🎙️Xavi…

🗣️: "Araújo wants to play. But It will depend on how he feels, today he trained and he feels very good. He didn't ask for rest like most other players would have." pic.twitter.com/17amMQ9Axt

Lineup prediction:

Like I mentioned previously, we really are down to our bare bones right now. We have so many injuries and suspensions going into the game. Which means that fielding a team of players just from the first team seems like a challenge. Due to the amount of absentees, we’re going to do a slightly different team prediction. What I’m going to do is name a team that I would love to see. Not necessarily a team that will start. But if Xavi is feeling like taking a few risks here and there.

Then this is a team I’d love to see play. In defence We are going to be without Pique, Eric, Dest and Alba. Araujo is also a doubt after suffering a concussion in our last game. If Araujo did start then it’d be great to see Mika Marmol start alongside him. With Dani Alves on the right and Alejandro Balde on the left. In midfield, Busquets will return from his suspension. Gavi and Frenkie De Jong are expected to start alongside him. But it would be nice to see players like Riqui and Jandro Orellana grab a few minutes too.

Changes in the attack?

In attack, I think things will remain relatively the same as our last game. I would give Ferran Torres a break however. He’s been struggling with confidence and form. He also looks really fatigued which is completely understandable. But I feel chucking him into the game every match isn’t helping with his confidence. So a rest would do him the world of good. I’d replace him with Adama. With Ousmanne Dembele on the left and Aubameyang down the middle. Ansu will also probably get a good 25 minutes of game time, which is exciting too! Tomorrows game will be testing. But let’s hope we can continue on our good run recently. With a much more improved performance too!

Visca BARÇA!

My aspirational prediction:

Ter stegen

Dani Alves- Araujo- Mika Marmol- Balde

Gavi- Busquets- Frenkie

Adama- Aubameyang- Dembele.
