The academy of FC Barcelona continues to produce talented players, and in recent weeks one name has started to gain attention inside La Masia. That player is Ruslan Mba, an attacking winger from the club’s Under-16 team who has begun to shine during the latest stretch of the season.
The young forward has become one of the key players in the team coached by David Sánchez, whose side is currently enjoying an excellent run in the División de Honor Sub-16.
After an inconsistent start to the campaign, the Barça youth team has reacted strongly. The squad has now recorded ten consecutive victories and currently sits on 50 points, just one behind rivals RCD Espanyol at the top of the standings.
Barcelona also still has a game in hand against CF Badalona, meaning the team controls its own destiny in the title race.
A fast and explosive winger
One of the main reasons behind the team’s improvement has been the emergence of Ruslan Mba in top form.
The winger struggled to show his full potential earlier in the season, but in recent matches he has taken a major step forward.
In the latest match against CE Mercantil, the attacker delivered a standout performance, producing a brilliant assist and scoring an impressive goal that confirmed his growing influence on the team.
Mba stands out primarily for his pace, power and ability to take on defenders, qualities that make him one of the most difficult players to stop in Barcelona’s youth setup.
A profile that reminds some of Raphinha
The left-footed winger is particularly dangerous when he has space ahead of him, but he can also make the difference in tight areas thanks to his dribbling ability and explosive finishing.
Inside the club, coaches believe that if he can improve his consistency and maintain concentration throughout matches, he could become a very important player for the future.
Because of his attacking style and the way he drives into the penalty area, some people within the academy have even drawn comparisons with Raphinha.
Already promoted to a higher level
Despite his young age, Ruslan Mba has already taken another step forward in his development.
The winger recently made his debut with the club’s Juvenil B team, a clear sign of the confidence the coaching staff has in his progression.
His ability to unlock tight games and create attacking imbalance from the wing makes him a valuable asset for Barcelona’s youth coaches.
Within the club, the next step in his development will be consolidating himself as a natural left winger — the position where they believe he can fully unleash his potential.
