FC Barcelona continue to find solutions within La Masia, and one of the names who has taken an important step in recent days is Adam Argemí. The 18-year-old midfielder experienced a very special weekend after making his debut for Barça Atlètic following an impressive season with Juvenil B.
Argemí, who turned 18 on February 5, has been enjoying a very solid campaign as captain and undisputed starter for the team coached by Cesc Bosch. His performances have made him one of the key pieces of the youth side.
A silent leader in Juvenil B
The midfielder has been at Barça since he was six years old, progressing through every level of the club’s academy. Last season, the club decided that he would repeat a year with Juvenil B, a decision the player accepted with maturity.
Far from becoming frustrated, Argemí embraced the role of leader within the squad. His game is defined by tactical intelligence, composure on the ball and the ability to organize play from midfield.
This season’s Juvenil B team largely revolves around his presence in the middle of the pitch.
An unexpected debut with Barça Atlètic
Several absences in the club’s youth teams accelerated events. Injuries, suspensions and international call-ups left both Barça Atlètic and Juvenil A short of players.
The injury to Pedro Rodríguez in the match against Deportivo ultimately forced the situation.
In this context, Barça Atlètic coach Juliano Belletti decided to trust Argemí and included him in the starting lineup in midfield against Girona B.
The Brazilian coach used a 3-5-2 system, with Argemí playing in midfield alongside Guille and Juan. The young midfielder played the first 45 minutes and delivered a solid performance in a demanding match.
A double mission in the same weekend
After his debut with the reserve team, Argemí still had time to live another important experience.
The player traveled to Lugo to join Juvenil A, where coach Pol Planas also needed reinforcements. There he played the final fifteen minutes of the match, in a difficult game where Barça were playing with one man less.
A midfielder with a bright future
Argemí’s impact during that weekend was very positive. Inside the club he is considered a reliable and intelligent midfielder with an excellent work rate, qualities that fit perfectly with Barça’s football philosophy.
Born in 2008, the midfielder continues to grow step by step and could keep earning opportunities with both Barça Atlètic and Juvenil A for the remainder of the season.
