The weeks have been building up to this. We’ve been counting down the days and preparing ourselves for the biggest game of the season so far. A game of this magnitude, of this importance needs absolutely no introduction. Live from the Santiago Bernabeu, at 4:15pm local time, it’s the big one. It’s El Clasico.
A Quick Look at our opponents:
As I mentioned above, this kind of game and this game in particular needs no introduction. Barcelona versus Real Madrid is one of the biggest games in world football, and of course it’s by far and away the biggest game of our season so far. Real Madrid are under new management this season, being led by an ex player in Xabi Alonso. They’ve had, on paper, a very good start to the season. Sitting top of La Liga and with a 100% record in the champions league too.
Mbappe is on another level so far this season and players like Guler have really stepped up too. But, in fairness, they have had a lot of close games. Games where they haven’t really looked too convincing, but they’re acting are set up much differently from last season too. For me, I really don’t know what to expect from the game. When you take our recent form into consideration, it’s fair to say we haven’t been great to watch. Defensively, that’s a big worry and it’s an issue that Real Madrid will look to capitalise on, especially with their pace in behind with Mbappe.
Mastantuano too has made a good impact in his debut season. And overall they have a team that can cause us damage. But, just purely down to recent history and past results, we haven’t to go into this game with some confidence, even despite the amount of key injuries and fitness issues.
Predicted lineup:
Coming into the game today, we are still without key players due to injury. And if we’re being honest, the whole team is seeming to be struggling physically. We are down to our bare bones to be honest, so there’s not much variation or options to choose from. Defensively, Kounde has been struggling for a few games now so I wouldn’t even be surprised to see him on the bench.
Frenkie and Christensen also suffered from illness in midweek so the former may be a question too, will he be able to start. In attack, Ferran is back in the squad, but again, I’d be surprised if he started straight away after being out for the last few games.
Hansi flick will also not be on the sidelines, so we really are coming into this game with a lot of absentees on and off the pitch. It’ll be very interesting to see how we decide to lineup in today’s massive game. Will there be any surprises in the lineup at all? We’ll just have to wait and see.
My starting lineup
Tek
Garcia- Araujo- Cubarsi- Balde
Pedri- Frenkie
Yamal- Fermin- Ferran
Rashford
