After a crucial win in midweek against Albacete, sending us through to the Copa Del Rey semi finals. Where, yesterday afternoon, we found out that we will be facing Atletico Madrid. We now move our attention back to La Liga, to yet another crucial game in the title race. Back at the Spotify Camp Nou, live from 4:15pm local time, it’s Barça, and we’ll be facing Mallorca. So, without further distraction, let’s jumps straight into the match preview!
A quick look at our opponent:
We last faced Mallorca, way back at the very beginning of the season. Since then, we’ve played in 3 “home” stadiums, won the Spanish Supercup, qualified for the Copa del Rey semi finals and the last 16 of the Champions of league. So a LOT has happened since we last met. Including the sale of one of our young talents, Jan Virgili. He himself has been enjoying a really impressive season so far, and of course will feature in today’s game. Along with another familiar face, Pablo Torre.
I’m really intrigued to see how they both will play against us later today, especially Jan Virgili. Who may still have options to return to the club in the near future, so it’s a big occasion for him. Mallorca as a whole though have had an up and down season. Currently sitting in 14th place, only 2 points off the relegation zone, they’re fighting to survive in LaLiga. Scoring a total of 28 goals and conceding 35 goals over the course of the league so far.
Predicted lineup:
When it comes to our lineup for the game, we probably won’t see many changes from the team we saw in midweek. Raphinha is still out with discomfort, along with Pedri and Gavi. When we look at our defence, I’d be looking at dropping Martin. With Eric and Cubarsi in the centre of defence, joined by Balde on the left hand side.
In midfield, it’s most likely going to be Frenkie and possibly Casado alongside him. Fermin at the 10. With Yamal, Ferran and Rashford completing the front line. I would be aiming to give Roony some minutes tho, with an eye on giving Yamal a much needed rest. Especially ahead of some important games in the coming weeks. And of course, Bernal too as he continues his build up to full fitness.
My starting 11
Joan Garcia
Kounde- Eric- Cubarsi- Balde
Frenkie- Casado
Yamal- Fermin- Rashford
Ferran
