Live from 9pm local time, coming to you from our home, The beautiful Spotify Camp Nou. It’s the final game of the UEFA Champions League “League phase”. And its an important one, between Barça and FC Copenhagen. As I’ve said, it is an important game. Due to how inconsistent and, to be honest, unconvincing we’ve been in this season’s league phase, we’ve left it pretty much all to do on the final game.
With tonight’s game, and the result being the difference between qualifying in the Top 8, or having to play another 2 games in the play offs, for the round of 16. Of course, we want to avoid playing those two extra games, in what is already a very packed season, so its with our best interest in getting the job done tonight, with a convincing shoreline, but Copenhagen will give us a test. Especially with key players missing and suspensions, especially in the midfield. So, let’s jump straight into the preview!
A Quick Look at our opponent:
As for the visitors this evening, we will be welcoming Danish side, FC Copenhagen to the Camp Nou. In terms of what they’re fighting for in the game later on, they’re currently on 8 points in the league. Only 5 points behind us, but they still have a chance, be it a small one depending on other results, in qualifying for the play offs round. So they aren’t just coming here playing for pride, they still have something to fight for. Which obviously will make our task tonight even trickier, but should also mean they will play.
I cant imagine them sitting back too much, when they still have something to fight for. So it could possibly mean the game turns to being quite an open one. It’ll be a special game for one player in particular, Roony Bardghji, its his former club, the club he came through as a young player. And of course, we only just bought him in the last summer transfer window. So he’ll be looking to prove himself, like he has done this season. It should count for being quite an interesting game, so lets see how we could lineup. Keeping in mind some key absentees in midfield.
Predicted lineup:
Coming into tonight’s game, we will be without some KEY players, especially in the midfield, pedri, who is sadly injured, and Frenkie who is serving a suspension willl both be unavailable for the game. Meaning we will most likely see a midfield pivot of Eric and Casado. Although, after his cameo on the weekend, i would love to see Bernal start alongside Eric.
In the attack, Ferran will be ready for the game, as confirmed by Flick in yesterday’s press conference. And lastly, in defence, the only changes from the weekend’s team will probably be the return of Balde to the left hand side, with Kounde back on the right. Cancelo is still unavailable to play until we move onto the next round!
My starting XI:
Joan Garcia
Kounde- Cubarsi- Martin- Balde
Bernal- Eric
Yamal- Fermin- Raphinha
Lewandowski
