With no activity for FC Barcelona’s first team due to the double international matchdays and subsequent rest following Wednesday’s training, the young talents under Hansi Flick have joined Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atlètic squad. This strategic move comes ahead of their league debut in Group 3 of the Segunda RFEF against Mallorca’s UE Porreres, set to kick off at noon on Sunday at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernández, Guille Fernández, and Toni Fernández joined the reserves on Wednesday, leaving the question of whether Jofre Torrents would follow after a muscle injury to first-team left-back Alejandro Balde. In the end, Jofre trained with Barça Atlètic on Thursday. Of the four players mentioned, Jofre is the only one who has logged official minutes with the first team this season, having played at the end of the opening match in Mallorca. Toni made his debut last season in the Copa del Rey.
The quartet’s presence will offset the absence of several internationals, including Andrés Cuenca (Spain U-20), Xavi Espart and Juan Hernández (Spain U-19), and Shane Kluivert (Netherlands U-19), along with injured players Quim Junyent, Ibrahim Diarra, Roger Martínez, Landry Farré, and Dani Rodríguez. However, Òscar Ureña and Víctor Barberà are expected to return to the lineup.
