Only just a couple of days on from our last game, we’re back in action yet again in La Liga. And this time, it is a big one. Live from the Spotify Camp Nou, at 9pm local time, its Barça up against Atletico Madrid. We’ve been struggling to find our form, to find our flow so far this season. In La Liga, we’ve been getting results, but i think we can all agree that the overall performances haven’t been convincing. We’re all desperate for this team and for Hansi Flick to find a solution, to do something to get our performances similar to what they were last season. And there’s no better opportunity than tonight, against a big team at home, to put in a display that can encourage us fans. That’s all we want. It’s not going to be easy. Atleti are a strong team, with some of the best players in the world especially in attacking positions. Defensively, they’re always going to be tricky to break down. So it is going to be a great test for the team. But i just hope this is the game where we can finally see a shift in performance. That’s what we’ve been missing all season and that’s what all of us fans and Hansi Flick are crying out for. So lets get into the preview!
A Quick Look at our opponent:
Of course, Atleti don’t need any introduction. They’re one of the biggest clubs in the game, with a strong history both domestically and in Europe. Diego Simeone has been the coach for the best part of more than a decade and his passion on the touchlines always transfers through to the players on the pitch.
Defensively, they’re always are going to be a test for us to break don. But they also offer a big threat going forward. With their talisman, a player long admired by Barça, Julian Alvarez. Not only is he so important for them in front of goal, but his work rate and pressing is relentless. Something that is going to test us, especially considering our pressing all season really hasn’t been great. They find themselves 4th in the table at the moment, only 3 points behind us. That only adds to the importance of tonight’s game. So it really is a huge match tonight, to get a result were going to need to be at our best.
Predicted lineup:
To be honest, when we look at the lineup for tonight’s game, I really don’t think we’ll see much difference from the team that started against Alaves on the weekend. Martin, although he isn’t the greatest player in the world, he was able to give us more balance at CB alongside Cubarsi. So. I expect him to keep his place.
In midfield, Pedri is available and Flick hinted that he may start tonight’s game, but only being able to play an hour or so. Olmo had a much improved game on the weekend, so he will most likely keep his place. With Frenkie expected to start alongside Pedri. Up top, I would imagine things will email the same.
My starting XI:
Joan Garçia
Eric- Cubarsi- Martin- Balde
Frenkie- Pedri
Yamal- Olmo- Raphinha
Lewandowski
