FC Barcelona continues to follow the development of several players who were trained at La Masia. One of the names that has recently returned to the club’s radar is Jan Virgili.
The young winger left Barcelona last summer to join RCD Mallorca, but at just 19 years old he has already become one of the most exciting revelations in La Liga this season.
His performances have not gone unnoticed in the offices at Camp Nou.
A breakthrough season in LaLiga
Since arriving at Mallorca, Virgili has quickly found continuity and confidence to develop his game. The winger has earned a regular place in the team and has become an important attacking option in Mallorca’s system.
His statistics reflect part of his impact on the pitch. The young forward has already registered six assists this season, although his influence goes beyond numbers.
Virgili stands out for his pace, dribbling ability and fearless approach in one-on-one situations, qualities that make him a very difficult player for defenders to stop.
Barça still holds part of his rights
Although Barcelona accepted his departure last summer for a fee of around €3 million, the Catalan club included an important clause in the deal.
This situation makes a potential return to the club easier if his development continues at the same pace.
A possible return already under discussion
Barcelona’s sporting department is closely monitoring the winger’s progress and is already studying the possibility of bringing him back in the future.
Inside the club there is a belief that Virgili could become an interesting option to strengthen the attack in the medium term.
Another factor that could facilitate a future deal is the club’s deep knowledge of his development and playing profile from his years in the academy.
Mallorca would demand a significant fee
The main obstacle to his return would be reaching an agreement with Mallorca, who own the other 50% of the player’s rights.
Given his performances this season, the Balearic club is unlikely to let him leave easily. According to several estimates, Mallorca could demand more than €10 million for their share of the player.
For now, Barcelona continues to observe his evolution, aware that if Virgili maintains this level, his market value could rise even further in the coming months.
