FC Barcelona continues to study the transfer market in search of defensive reinforcements for next season. Strengthening the center-back position is one of the priorities for the club’s sporting department, which is analyzing both established defenders and young prospects with major potential.
Among the latter, one name stands out: Luka Vušković. The 19-year-old center-back is considered one of the most promising young defenders in European football.
The Croatian currently belongs to Tottenham Hotspur, although he is spending the season on loan at Hamburger SV, where he continues his development in German football.
His situation has attracted interest from several major clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.
Zahavi speaks about Barça interest
The player’s agent is Pini Zahavi, a very familiar figure around the Catalan club. Zahavi has strong ties with Barcelona, as he also represents Hansi Flick, Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny.
Speaking to 365Scores, the agent was asked directly about Barcelona’s reported interest in the Croatian defender.
Zahavi avoided confirming any negotiations and chose a cautious response.
“I cannot comment at this moment because the player is under contract and fully focused on Hamburg,” he explained.
One of Europe’s most promising young defenders
Despite his young age, Vušković is already regarded as one of the most exciting defensive prospects in Europe.
Standing at 1.93 meters, he stands out for his physical presence, aerial dominance and ability to build play from the back.
Tottenham made a strong investment in him last summer, paying around €11 million to HNK Hajduk Split to secure his signing.
The English club then decided to continue his development in Germany, where he has been gaining valuable minutes and experience.
Tottenham set a high asking price
Despite the player’s youth, Tottenham has no intention of making his departure easy.
According to the same reports, the Premier League club would not consider offers below £50 million — roughly €59 million.
Such a figure reflects the high expectations surrounding the Croatian defender but could represent a difficult deal for Barcelona at this stage.
Barça keep monitoring the situation
Within Barcelona, there is significant appreciation for Vušković’s potential, and the club maintains contact with his entourage — partly thanks to the relationship with Zahavi.
However, any possible move will depend heavily on the club’s financial planning for the summer and on the defensive priorities defined by Flick.
For now, the Croatian center-back remains focused on his season in Germany, while his name continues to appear on the scouting lists of several major European clubs.
