Barcelona have made an important decision ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Inside the club, there is a growing consensus: sales must come before any major signings. The sporting department has already highlighted two players as crucial to generating both income and salary space.
Those names are Ferran Torres and Marc Casadó.
The objective is simple but unavoidable. Sell to be able to buy, while also reducing a wage bill that continues to limit the club’s flexibility.
Ferran Torres is the clearest exit
The situation of Ferran Torres is the most defined internally. The forward is under contract until 2027, but the absence of any renewal talks is being interpreted as a clear signal about his position in the project.
His recent performances have not helped his case either. Ferran has struggled to deliver goals in recent weeks, especially during a crucial stretch of the season. That lack of impact has raised doubts within the sporting department.
Because of that, the club now believe the moment has arrived to seriously consider offers.

A key operation for Barça’s finances
Beyond the sporting side, the financial angle is decisive. Selling Ferran would generate a significant transfer fee and reduce the wage bill at the same time. That double impact makes his departure particularly valuable.
Barcelona are prioritising salary space more than ever, and Ferran’s case fits perfectly into that strategy. On top of that, his market remains active, with interest from both the Premier League and LaLiga.
That gives the club confidence that a favourable deal could be reached. In many ways, Ferran has become a strategic piece in Barça’s summer plan.
Marc Casadó is a more complex case
The situation of Marc Casadó is very different. The midfielder has always made it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona. As a homegrown player, his commitment to the club has never been in doubt.
However, his role has become less prominent over time. That reduction in minutes opens the door to possible scenarios that were not previously on the table. A departure is not being actively pushed, but it is no longer ruled out either.
Everything will depend on the offers that may arrive.

Strong interest across the market
Casadó continues to attract attention from multiple leagues. Atlético Madrid have shown interest in the past, and there are also clubs in the Premier League and other emerging markets monitoring his situation.
His tactical intelligence, positional discipline and long-term potential make him an appealing profile. There is also another key factor. As a La Masia product, any sale would represent pure profit for Barcelona.
That makes his case especially interesting from a financial planning perspective.
The key to Barcelona’s summer
These two potential sales are directly linked to Barça’s ambitions in the market. The club want to reinforce key areas, including the defence and the attack, with the aim of making a real step forward next season.
But none of that will be possible without generating resources first.
If these exits are completed, they could unlock a large part of Barcelona’s transfer strategy. If not, the club’s options will be significantly more limited.
The roadmap is already clear.
Barcelona will sell… in order to come back strong in the market.
