FC Barcelona continue working on the generational transition in their attack. Although Robert Lewandowski remains an important piece in Hansi Flick’s system, the club knows it must start preparing the future of the number 9 position.
In that context, one of the names gaining strength on the sporting department’s shortlist is Dušan Vlahović, the Serbian striker currently playing for Juventus.
A market opportunity
The main reason behind Barça’s interest is the player’s contractual situation. Vlahović’s contract with Juventus expires on June 30, 2026, which could open the door to a very attractive opportunity for the Catalan club.
If the striker does not renew his deal with the Italian side, Juventus could be forced to sell him before his contract expires to avoid losing him for free.
That scenario is precisely what Barça are monitoring closely, as the club is actively looking for market opportunities that allow them to strengthen the squad without making huge investments.

A striker with elite-level experience
Vlahović joined Juventus from Fiorentina in a deal worth more than €80 million. At the time, he was considered one of the most promising young strikers in European football.
Although his time in Turin has had some inconsistent moments, the Serbian forward remains a powerful attacker with strong finishing ability, physical dominance and excellent instincts inside the box.
At 26 years old, he is also at an ideal stage of his career to take on the role of leading striker in an ambitious project.
Flick believes he could recover his best version
Inside Barça, there is a belief that Hansi Flick’s attacking system could suit Vlahović’s style. The German coach prefers a vertical and dynamic style of play, where strikers must attack spaces and finish quickly.
The Serbian fits the profile of a powerful striker capable of finishing crosses, occupying defenders and constantly threatening inside the penalty area.

Everything depends on Juventus
For now, there are no negotiations between Barça and the player’s camp. However, the Catalan club is paying close attention to how Vlahović’s contractual situation with Juventus develops.
If the striker does not renew and his departure becomes inevitable, Barcelona could try to position themselves to sign him and make him the long-term successor to Lewandow
