Scout Report : Who is Agustin Alvarez?
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatApp

The Uruguayan was born in the Uruguayan city of San Bautista two decades ago. He began his professional career with Penarol, an Uruguayan club headquartered in Montevideo and he graduated from the team’s academy. Agustin Alvarez scored 123 goals in 170 games for Penarol Youth Club before being promoted to the senior team. He made his professional debut against Montevideo City Torque in a 0-0 draw. Agustin scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 victory over Plaza Colonia on September 29, 2020. He played for the Uruguayan team for two seasons, participating in 49 games and scoring 23 goals while also contributing 9 assists.

Barcelona is interested in Penarol’s talisman. However, Transfermarkt.com estimates that its current market value is €4.5 million.

Looking to stregnthen the Attack

With so many injured players on Barcelona’s team, Agustin Alvarez might help the team’s attack. Meanwhile, Memphis Depay sustained an injury against Bayern Munich on Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League. The Dutch striker has played in 21 games this season, scoring eight goals and adding two assists. With his injury, Barcelona has taken a major step back.

Since Lionel Messi’s departure, Barcelona has yet to find a regular goal scorer. Barcelona scored two goals in six games in the UEFA Champions League group stage. But just 25 goals in 16 games in La Liga, averaging 1.5 goals per game, indicating that their attack needs considerably improvement. In addition, the Uruguayan, who is only twenty years old, might sign a long-term contract with Barcelona and make a substantial contribution to the Catalan giant’s attack.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 20-year-old is ready to advance his career by relocating to Europe, giving Barcelona a huge advantage in his pursuit.

Agustin Alvarez Martinez appears to be Barcelona’s most current target at the moment, with Penarol asking for around €12 million for him. Barcelona could afford to buy the Uruguayan international who is 20 years old because the sum was not extravagant. However, it is unclear whether he will have his first taste of European football in La Liga.

Is Agustin Alvarez a must-have for Barcelona?

European giants such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and others are watching Alvarez .since he was 18 years old.

Due to his off-the-ball movement, awareness, and outstanding technique, the 20-year-old is particularly devastating inside the penalty box. He’s surprisingly good in the air, despite his diminutive stature. With his back to goal, his toughness and strength help him be especially effective, and his experience as a young midfielder helps him form strong bonds with his teammates.

Barcelona is hoping to re-energize its attack before the end of the winter break.

Agustin Alvarez will be a fantastic addition to the Blaugrana’s lineup.

What are your thoughts?
