The last game of the season is here, with Barca having nothing to play for. However, that doesn’t mean Barca has to lie down and let Athletic Club win easily.
Barca is here to win, no matter how non consequential the win might be.
So let’s see how the match panned out.
First half
There was no incentive for Barca to put in a heavy amount of intensity today. La Liga has been won, the only thing left to do was to simply finish the season and get into a much deserved summer break.
However, these players didn’t want to simply coast into their summer break, instead — and Hansi Flick said it beautifully after the game — they wanted to finish the season by doing what they’ve done during all of 2025, which is by winning.
That’s why when Barca scored within the first 15 minutes, it came as no surprise.
Robert Lewandowski not only scored the first goal for Barca, but he also scored their second goal.
The first goal was a nice, tidy finish by the polish legend, as his chip floated over Unai Simon and into the back of the net.
Nice finish from Lewandowski, not only due to the nature of the goal, but also because of how rarely we’ve seen this type of finish from Lewandowski in recent times. Nonetheless, a good goal from the striker and an early lead for Barca.
That wasn’t the only action from Lewandowski in the early stages of the match either, as he scored Barca’s second goal of the match just a few minutes later.
Nothing crazy about this one, but kudos to Lewandowski’s instincts to be at the right place at the right time for an easy goal.
2-0 Barca.
That was all we had for the first half, as Barca continued to apply pressure and keep Athletic Club away from scoring for the most part. We went into halftime with a 2-0 scoreline in favor of Barcelona, with another half to go and a potential Pichichi to chase down.
Let’s get right to it.
Second half
This half wasn’t a barn burner, but it included some tidy work from Barca in terms of game management.
They held it down in the second half defensively, refusing to allow Athletic Club to even get close scoring in the second half. Impressive considering the firepower Athletic Club possesses and the environment present.
Despite that though, Barca was able to hold it down and even score another goal of their own later on. This time it wasn’t due to Lewandowski, but courtesy of a Dani Olmo penalty during the late stages of the game itself.
With that, the game ended along with the season, with a beautiful win.
Final word
Good last display of the season before the summer break. Now we look ahead to the transfer window, where Barca should be active in a few areas — pray for Joan Garcia and no Luis Diaz, fingers crossed ! — which should lead to some happy fans.
Barca’s next match…and a note

I’ve been a big time Barca fan since I was 14 years old. I love the club, the history, and the tradition that the club has built over its prestigious history. Forca Barca!
