Ferran Torres is officially a Barcelona Player, the 21-year old has signed a five-year-deal. This is the club’s second signing under the Xavi era after Dani Alves. Both players will be eligible to play January onwards if Barca manages to register them.
There’s a five year deal with the fee being €55m + €10m to Man City, and a wage-cut for the Spanish international. Xavi was key as he only wanted Ferrán, and Mateu Alemany made it happen. Ferran Torres is training on the field after suffering a small fracture in his right foot. He could play in January against Linares or Granada.
Where Will Xavi Fit Ferran Torres In The Squad
The former Manchester City player is technically dynamic, and can play any position in the front line. Given Barcelona’s lack of a number ‘9’, Xavi will most likely play him as a striker. With Memphis Depay injured for a month, and Ferran Jutgla just beginning to get first team minutes, this is a good chance for Torres to establish himself in that position. He’s also good at coming in off the right flank, and a threat on goal.
Ferran is very natural on the ball, and can pass to his teammates without even looking. For a player who has been trained by Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique, that comes rather naturally. Torres fits perfectly into Xavi’s idea of a ‘wide winger’, and what he demands from a player in that position. His movement off the ball as a striker can be a great threat for the opposition since players like Pedri and Gavi make such passes forward.
Barcelona’s Possible Front Three Combinations
With Torres coming in, everyone fit, the most ideal front three is Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Osumane Dembele if he renews his contract. Otherwise it will be Abde or Illias in place of the Frenchman. Ferran has scored 12 goals in 22 games for the Spanish national team, and was awarded the best player of the team last year.

- Pablo Páez ‘Gavi’.
- Ansu Fati.
- Ferran Torres.
- Possibly Nico González
If the club goes for Dani Olmo in the summer, there can potentially be nine Barca first team players in the Spain squad.
