Barcelona have already opened a casting process in the market to strengthen the left wing. Raphinha’s injury has changed the picture and is forcing the club to make important decisions. And there is one name right at the centre of everything.
Marcus Rashford now has a huge chance to convince the club. Barça hold a purchase option worth around €30 million, but no final decision has been made yet. Everything will depend on his performances in this decisive stretch of the season.
The English forward arrived as a market opportunity and has left a positive impression. His profile is appreciated for his speed, dribbling and goal threat. Even so, Barcelona want to assess every option before committing.

Barça are hesitating over Rashford
Only a few weeks ago, Barça looked ready to go through with the signing. Now, though, the sporting department have decided to slow down the final decision. The reason is clear: they want to explore the market properly.
The total cost of the operation, including transfer fee and salary, is high. And that affects other priorities such as signing a centre-back or a top striker. That is why the club want to compare alternatives before making a final call.
Rashford is far from being ruled out. But his continuity is not guaranteed either. What he does in the next few weeks will be crucial.

Two names are gaining strength
At the same time, Barcelona are already studying younger profiles with more growth potential. One of the names the club like most is Andreas Schjelderup. The Benfica winger made a strong impression in the Champions League and fits many of the characteristics Barça are looking for.
His fee could move in a similar range to Rashford’s, but with a much more manageable salary. On top of that, his margin for growth makes him a long-term investment. It is exactly the kind of profile that is gaining support inside the offices.
The other name is Víctor Muñoz, a more complicated option. His contract situation and likely price make the operation much harder. Even so, he is still being monitored.
A summer that will be defined by the left wing
Barcelona want to get this position right. That is why they have widened the list of options and do not want to rush into a decision that could shape the project.
The idea is to find the right balance between performance, age and financial cost. That is where the sporting department are focusing their work right now.
Everything remains open. Rashford still has the edge, but he is not alone anymore. And inside Barça, one thing is already very clear: the left wing will be one of the biggest decisions of the summer.
Important note: this information is being attributed to Luis Miguel Sanz, so it should be treated with some caution. It may reflect a real market scenario, but it is not 100% fully reliable or definitive at this stage.
