The final hours of the summer transfer market are always chaotic, and nothing is ever certain until it’s over. It seemed that Marc Guéhi would be the last addition to Liverpool after a summer filled with rumors, but ultimately Crystal Palace did not approve the move as they couldn’t find a replacement for him in time.
Disrupted Relations at Crystal Palace
The relationship between the player and the last FA Cup and Community Shield champion has been damaged since then. The team’s captain has no intention of renewing his contract with ‘The Eagles’, which expires in the summer of 2026. FC Barcelona is looking to capitalize on this situation, especially after the departure of Iñigo Martínez. They now have a spot to fill in defense and are also considering that Christensen‘s contract ends next summer.
Barcelona Eyes a Defensive Opportunity
The 25-year-old player is becoming one of the hottest commodities of 2026 as a great market opportunity. As he can leave the London club for free, The Mirror reported this Friday that FC Barcelona has joined the race to sign Guéhi, who is also attracting interest from Real Madrid.
Previous Links to Barcelona
This is not the first time the English defender has been linked to the Blaugrana club. Back in July 2024, the British press placed the Crystal Palace player on Barça’s radar, but the rumors did not progress further. This possibility might gain traction in the coming months as Barça looks for a central defender, and the Englishman could leave his current club for free.
