FC Barcelona has already started planning the long-term future of its attack. At 37 years old, Robert Lewandowski remains a key figure in the squad, but the club is aware that a generational transition at striker will eventually be necessary.
Sporting director Deco and the technical staff led by Hansi Flick have been studying several profiles for months. The goal is clear: find a striker capable of leading the Barça attack in the coming years.
From world-class stars to market opportunities, several names have appeared on the club’s radar.

Julián Álvarez, Barça’s favorite option
Julián Álvarez is currently the most admired profile inside the club.
The Argentine forward, who plays for Atlético de Madrid, fits perfectly with the style of football that Flick wants to implement. His mobility, pressing intensity and ability to link up with midfielders make him an ideal striker for Barça’s system.
Álvarez is also extremely versatile: he can play as a central striker, second forward or even drift wide.
The main obstacle is the price. Atlético signed him from Manchester City for around €75 million, and his current market value is believed to exceed €100 million.
With a contract running until 2030, Atlético holds a very strong negotiating position.

Harry Kane, a world-class option that has cooled down
Another name linked to Barcelona is Harry Kane.
The English striker remains one of the most complete forwards in world football. His finishing ability, link-up play and intelligence in attack make him a top-tier No.9.
He is currently playing for Bayern Munich, where he continues to deliver impressive scoring numbers.
However, the possibility of Kane joining Barcelona has cooled in recent months for several reasons:
- His age (already over 32)
- The high transfer fee
- His very large salary
Barcelona is looking for a striker who could lead the attack for many years, which makes Kane a less strategic option.

Dušan Vlahović, a potential free-transfer opportunity
One of the most interesting market opportunities could be Dušan Vlahović.
The striker from Juventus could potentially become available as a free agent if he does not renew his contract with the Italian club.
Vlahović is a more traditional striker profile:
- Physically strong
- Excellent finisher
- Extremely dangerous inside the box
His style differs from Julián Álvarez, but he could still fit as a reference point in Barcelona’s attack.
The biggest obstacles would be his salary and the strong competition from other European clubs if he becomes available without a transfer fee.

Omar Marmoush, the surprise alternative
Another name occasionally linked with Barcelona is Omar Marmoush, a forward who has been associated with Manchester City in recent transfer discussions.
Marmoush is known for his speed, ability to attack space and versatility across the front line.
He is not a traditional No.9 like Lewandowski, but his dynamic style could fit into a more fluid attacking system.
Still, within Barcelona he is viewed more as a secondary option rather than a priority signing.
Other profiles Barça continues to monitor
Barcelona’s scouting department is also following several other strikers across Europe who could become interesting opportunities depending on market conditions.
The club’s preferred striker profile generally includes:
- High pressing ability
- Mobility in attack
- Strong link-up play
- Consistent goal scoring
The objective is to sign a forward capable of leading the attack for the next five or six seasons.
The final decision will depend on the market
Much of Barcelona’s strategy still depends on what happens with Lewandowski and the club’s financial situation.
If the Polish striker stays another season, the club might target a younger prospect or a market opportunity.
However, if Barcelona decides to accelerate the transition, signing a new elite striker will become one of the most important operations of the upcoming transfer window.
And right now, one name stands above the rest inside Camp Nou: Julián Álvarez.
