The academy player knows he will not be a protagonist under Flick, and several clubs already follow his situation.
Marc Casadó is again one of the hottest possible exits at FC Barcelona. The midfielder already knows he will not have a leading role next season. That is why Jorge Mendes has started moving his name across different markets.
The Portuguese agent has reportedly offered the player to AC Milan, a route that could gain strength. Barça need to resolve exits, and Casadó has enough market value to leave useful money. The operation is not closed, but the internal message is becoming very clear.
Casadó loses space under Flick
Competition in Barça’s midfield has left Casadó in a very complicated position. Hansi Flick wants a squad with defined roles and fewer players without clear minutes. In that scenario, the academy player does not appear as a structural piece.
Casadó has shown intensity, personality and ability to compete in demanding moments. However, Barça’s midfield is too full of important names and consolidated profiles. Pedri, Gavi, De Jong, Bernal, Fermín and Dani Olmo reduce his real space.
The player needs continuity to avoid slowing his growth at a decisive age. Staying at Barça without an important role could become a lost season. That is why an exit is starting to look logical for all parties.
Mendes activates the Milan route
Jorge Mendes is already working to find a destination that fits Casadó sportingly and financially. AC Milan now appear as an interesting possibility for the Catalan midfielder. The Italian club want young, competitive profiles with room to grow.
For Casadó, playing in Serie A could be attractive if he receives real trust. Milan offer history, European demand and a context where he could earn minutes. The major challenge will be finding a formula that also convinces Barça.
The blaugrana club would prefer a sale bringing immediate income and salary margin. Even so, a loan with purchase option cannot be ruled out without strong offers. Deco must decide whether to prioritise quick money or future value protection.
Several clubs remain attentive
Milan are not the only club appearing around Casadó during this market. Monaco, Al-Hilal, Atlético Madrid and Manchester United have also shown interest. That list confirms the academy player still has market despite losing prominence.
United have spent weeks monitoring young profiles to strengthen their midfield. Atlético value intense, competitive players prepared to press in central areas. Al-Hilal could also appear with an economic proposal difficult to match in Europe.
The Monaco case has had twists, but the name remains around the noise. Ansu Fati’s exit has also brought Mendes closer to several important offices. The Portuguese agent could be decisive to unlock an operation before July advances.
Barça want a useful sale
For Barça, Casadó represents a very clear economic opportunity in the market. As a homegrown player, any sale would have a very positive accounting impact. An operation near €20 million or €25 million would help Barça’s Fair Play.
The club need margin to sign, register players and organise an overloaded squad. Selling an academy player always hurts, but can release resources without touching untouchable pieces. That is the coldest part of a decision that will not be popular.
Casadó is not leaving because of a lack of quality, but lack of real space. Flick has set priorities, and Deco must turn some files into income. If Milan or the Premier League move seriously, Barça will listen very carefully.
An exit with emotional weight
A possible Casadó departure would reopen the debate around La Masia management. The midfielder represents commitment, development, silent work and a direct connection with the club. But today’s Barça cannot guarantee space for every young talent.
The player must choose between waiting for a difficult chance or seeking immediate prominence elsewhere. His career needs minutes, continuity and a coach who truly trusts him. That means a well-chosen exit could be more useful than staying without space.
The summer now enters a decisive phase for the academy player’s future. Mendes is moving, Milan appear and several clubs are watching from distance. The twist is clear: Casadó is not sold yet, but his exit is starting to look inevitable.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between Barça, Marc Casadó and any interested club.
