Adam Qaroual once again took centre stage in FC Barcelona’s academy setup. The German attacker from the Under-14 side delivered a very complete performance at the Narcís Sala and emerged as one of the standout figures in Barça’s win over Sant Andreu. His display confirmed a clear improvement at a crucial stage of the season.
The team coached by Adrià Monràs went into a demanding fixture on matchday 22 of the Under-14 División de Honor. The aim was not only to collect another victory, but also to keep evolving as a group during one of the most important stages of player development. In that context, several of the main talking points surrounded the most talented names in Barça’s attack.
Among them was Adam Qaroual, who started alongside Álex Pliego and Fode Diallo. David Moreno also returned to the starting lineup, adding another highly followed talent from the same generation. It was a lineup packed with creativity, flair and attacking quality.
Sant Andreu tried to sit deep and make Barcelona’s circulation more difficult. For a while, the home side managed to do exactly that, but Qaroual’s individual quality ended up breaking the match open. The winger scored the opener with a brilliant move, cutting inside twice before firing a highly accurate finish.
Two goals and far better signs in the collective game
That first goal allowed Barça to play with more calm and find larger spaces. But Adam Qaroual was not done there, and later made his mark again with a superb volley that completed the blaugrana victory. The final score was 1-5, and his brace became one of the biggest talking points of the game.
Beyond the goals, the most encouraging aspect was his overall behaviour throughout the match. He looked far more focused in tactical duties, more disciplined without the ball and sharper in his reading of the collective game. That step forward is especially important for a player with such a creative profile.
Qaroual has always stood out because of his technique. He has a very special relationship with the ball, the ability to improvise and technical resources that are unusual for his age group. Even so, inside La Masia, there is a strong belief that all of that talent must continue adapting to the team’s collective structure.
La Masia want to develop his talent without taking away his essence
During his first years at Barcelona, Adam generated a huge amount of excitement because of his most spectacular actions. That led to exaggerated comparisons and unnecessary pressure on a footballer who is still very much in the middle of his development. Those labels did not help him before, and they still do not truly explain his progress now.
The reality is that the attacker who arrived from PSV remains a very special talent. He does not stand out primarily because of raw power or long-distance speed, but because of his technical sensitivity, quality in tight spaces and ability to unbalance defenders. The challenge is turning all of that into consistent output within Barça’s model.
This season, he has already produced four goals and several assists, but the biggest improvement may lie elsewhere. Adam Qaroual is learning how to become more useful to the team without giving up the qualities that make him different. And inside Barcelona’s academy, that is worth almost as much as scoring two brilliant goals in the same match.
