The winger from the 2010 generation signs his first professional contract and will continue growing at the club.
FC Barcelona have taken an important step to protect Ruslan Mba Hernando’s future. The young Barcelona-born winger has signed his first professional contract with the blaugrana club. The renewal confirms the club’s confidence in one of La Masia’s great promises.
Ruslan belongs to the 2010 generation and is already considered one of its most differential talents. Barça did not want to leave any doubt about his continuity in the youth stage. Securing him now sends a clear message: the club see him as a long-term project.
A strong bet on La Masia
The agreement was officially announced by Barça through their youth football channels. José Ramón Alesanco, director of Barça’s youth football structure, was present at the signing. The club also thanked the Mba-Hernando family for continuing to trust La Masia.
These types of moves are becoming increasingly important inside the club. The European market watches every young talent emerging in Barcelona with huge attention. That is why securing professional contracts early has become a strategic priority.
Barça know it is not enough to develop talent; they must also protect it. Competition from English, French and German clubs starts at very early ages. With Ruslan, the blaugrana club move early and avoid unnecessary noise around his future.
A winger with power and dribbling
Ruslan Mba arrived at La Masia from UAT Horta when he was still a child. Since then, his progression has been constant through Barça’s youth categories. His physical, technical and competitive growth has made him an extremely difficult attacker to stop.
He is naturally left-footed, but can play comfortably on both wings. He stands out for speed, explosiveness and ability to beat defenders one-on-one. When he receives space, he has that change of rhythm which breaks defensive lines.
He has also improved his decision-making and ability to create scoring chances. He is not only a dribbling winger, but a player who attacks the box. That evolution explains why Barça see him ready for the next youth-football step.
A season that confirmed his growth
During the 2025/26 season, Ruslan again showed his huge potential with the Cadete A. He scored 10 goals and became one of the team’s most decisive players. His offensive impact helped him gain weight inside a generation closely followed by Barça.
He also started competing in higher contexts during the previous campaign. He played several matches with the Juvenil B and left very positive sensations. He even scored against Badalona, confirming he can adapt quickly to tougher levels.
That gradual step is exactly what Barça want to control calmly. The club do not want to accelerate processes because of external noise or premature comparisons. Ruslan has talent, but needs minutes, development and a healthy environment.
Barça protect another jewel
Ruslan Mba’s renewal arrives at a key moment for Barça’s academy. La Masia continues producing top-level talents, and the club want to avoid painful exits. Every important contract is also a message sent internally and externally.
Ruslan represents the type of footballer who excites because of conditions and improvement margin. Powerful, vertical, brave and full of personality when facing defenders in advanced areas. He is one of those jewels Barça simply could not leave exposed.
Now, a decisive stage begins for his growth inside youth football. His first professional contract is not the finish line, but the start of a more demanding path. The twist is clear: Barça have already done their part by securing Ruslan Mba before Europe knocks louder.
