The presidential race at FC Barcelona continues to intensify as election day approaches. With the vote scheduled for March 15, the two candidates who made it through the signature process — Joan Laporta and Víctor Font — have already begun presenting the foundations of their respective sporting projects.
Although both share certain principles, their approaches to building the future of the club show clear differences.
Víctor Font’s sporting vision
Víctor Font’s project focuses heavily on long-term planning and structural reform within the club’s sporting department.
One of the central pillars of his proposal is strengthening the role of La Masia in the first team. Font believes the academy must once again become the main source of talent for the senior squad.
Another key aspect of his project is improving the detection and development of young players. The idea is to build a more efficient scouting and development system capable of identifying talent early and guiding it toward the first team.
Font also proposes a long-term sporting strategy designed to give the club more stability in its planning.
In addition, his project includes creating a renewed structure within the sporting department, with clearer roles and responsibilities for the technical staff and decision-makers.
Finally, the candidate has highlighted the importance of improving player performance and strengthening injury prevention programs, an issue that has become a major concern within the squad in recent seasons.

Laporta’s sporting project
Joan Laporta, the current president, has focused his proposal on consolidating the project already underway at the club.
One of the main objectives of his plan is continuing the economic recovery of the institution. Laporta believes that stabilizing the club’s finances is essential to allow Barcelona to compete again in the transfer market against Europe’s wealthiest clubs.
Like Font, Laporta also considers La Masia a central element of the club’s identity and future.
However, his project also emphasizes the need to complement academy talent with strategic signings that strengthen key positions in the squad.
Another important pillar of his plan is maintaining stability within the sporting department, particularly with figures such as Deco leading the technical planning of the team.
Laporta’s ultimate objective is clear: return Barcelona to the top of European football.
Two different paths for Barça’s future
While both candidates highlight the importance of La Masia and long-term sporting success, their proposals reveal different priorities.
Font focuses more on structural reform and youth development systems, while Laporta emphasizes financial recovery, continuity and targeted signings to keep the team competitive at the highest level.
With the elections approaching, club members will soon decide which vision will shape the next chapter in the history of FC Barcelona.
