FC Barcelona continue exploring options to reinforce their attack ahead of the summer window. Among those names, Victor Osimhen stands out as one of the most appealing alternatives to Julián Álvarez. He is not the club’s absolute top priority, but he is very much a real option on the list.
Inside the club, Osimhen is highly valued because he fits many of the current needs. He is powerful, aggressive, constantly attacks space, and brings a physical and goal-scoring presence that Barça currently lack. His profile offers something different compared to other forwards being considered.
His track record also backs up his reputation. He was Serie A champion and top scorer with SSC Napoli, and has continued to perform at a high level afterwards. That consistency explains why he remains such a respected name across Europe.
A top profile that fits Flick’s idea
Osimhen is 27 years old, 1.86m tall, and a natural centre-forward with strong market value. He is currently linked with Galatasaray SK, and his estimated value sits around €75 million. That alone shows this would not be a minor operation for Barça.
Within the club, there is a clear belief that he could significantly raise the attacking level of Hansi Flick’s team. After the Champions League setback, Barça want forwards with more goals, more aggression, and more authority in big matches. Osimhen ticks almost every box.
He is also part of a broader strategy. Barça are considering a major investment in the ‘number 9’ position, aiming for a striker who can truly change the team’s ceiling. In that sense, Osimhen is clearly part of that elite-impact category.
The main obstacle: money
However, the biggest issue is not his level — it is the total cost of the operation. His transfer fee is already high, but his salary is the real problem.
The club remains heavily restricted by Financial Fair Play rules, meaning any major signing requires prior sales and wage adjustments. If Osimhen maintains a high salary, the overall financial effort becomes extremely difficult to justify.
That is why, despite being highly rated internally, he is currently seen more as a strong alternative than the primary target.
A perfect striker… but a very difficult deal
The conclusion inside Barça is quite clear. Osimhen is loved for his level, his goals, and his fit within the project, but the financial reality changes everything.
Right now, he represents a top-tier option with immediate impact, but also one of the most complicated deals to pull off this summer.
