FC Barcelona are already preparing alternatives in case Marcus Rashford does not continue this summer. Inside the club, there is a growing feeling that the operation remains complicated due to cost, context, and external demands. That’s why Deco has activated several parallel options to reinforce the left wing.
The strategy is very clear. If Rashford leaves, Barça will prioritize young players with projection and resale value, not just immediate impact. After the Champions League setback, Hansi Flick wants more pace, depth, and attacking intensity from his wide players.
Four names are already on the table.
Jan Virgili: the strategic advantage
One of the most attractive profiles internally is Jan Virgili. Barça still own 40% of his rights, which significantly improves the financial feasibility of the deal.
The club values his potential, development margin, and lower overall cost, making him a very logical option in the current financial context. This is not just a sporting bet — it’s a strategic move.
Víctor Muñoz: talent with complications
Another option is Víctor Muñoz, but his case is far more complex. 50% of any transfer would go to Real Madrid, who also hold a right of first refusal.
That structure makes the operation legally and financially uncomfortable, despite the player’s quality. Barça like him, but the context makes this deal difficult to justify.
Andreas Schjelderup: high potential, high price
Barça have also inquired about Andreas Schjelderup, a player who fits perfectly in terms of youth and attacking potential.
However, the main issue is cost. His price could range between €30–40 million, which becomes a serious obstacle under Financial Fair Play restrictions. It’s an attractive profile, but an expensive one.
Ez Abde: the familiar solution
The fourth option brings back a well-known name: Ez Abde. Barça still hold a buy-back option and a percentage of his future sale, making this a controlled and flexible operation.
Abde offers pace, dribbling, and the ability to break games from the left wing. He already knows the club and could return with greater maturity. In some scenarios, he might be the most practical solution.
A key decision for the summer
Everything now depends on how the Rashford situation evolves in the coming weeks. If the English forward does not stay, Barça already have four clear paths prepared.
Virgili offers strategic value, Muñoz brings complications, Schjelderup raises the cost, and Abde provides a familiar shortcut.
The message inside the club is clear: the left wing is one of the most sensitive positions this summer, and the solution will come from this shortlist.
