Atlético Madrid are once again appearing strongly around the Barcelona market, this time with a very sensitive name. Alejandro Balde has been linked as a serious option to strengthen the left flank this summer. Inside the Catalan club, they already know that a major proposal for him would not be automatically rejected.
The full-back’s situation has changed quite a lot compared with how things looked a year ago. His prominence has dropped, and recent reports suggest he has lost ground against other options in the rotation. That is why the market is starting to move around a player who still has huge status.
In that context, Diego Simeone’s team appears as a club that see Balde as a valuable opportunity. The idea fits well with what the Argentine coach usually wants: speed, power and a wing-back capable of covering the whole flank. Even after a more irregular season, the Spanish international remains a very attractive profile.

Balde is no longer completely untouchable
Inside Barça, there is no official decision to sell Balde at any price this summer. However, there are signs that the club would listen to offers if they were truly important. That changes the reading of a possible operation with a direct LaLiga rival.
The club are also reviewing the left-back position ahead of next season with Hansi Flick. In recent weeks, names such as Marc Cucurella and Alejandro Grimaldo have appeared as possible alternatives. That detail reinforces the feeling that the position is not completely closed for the summer.
The key nuance is that Balde would only leave for a very powerful fee. This is not a discard or a forced sale, but an operation that could generate money and reorganise the squad. That is why firm interest from Atlético would carry such a huge impact.
Casadó has also been on Atlético’s radar
Alongside Balde, Marc Casadó has also appeared at some point in Atlético’s market orbit. In January, it was reported that the Barça midfielder was on the list of players followed by the Madrid club. That interest made sense for a player who has been losing weight in the first-team rotation.
However, there is an important nuance to avoid exaggerating the current situation. Later information suggested Atlético cooled that option and no longer see it as an immediate priority. In other words, Casadó was on the radar, but his file is not as hot today as Balde’s.
Even so, his name remains very present in the market because Barça do contemplate an exit this summer. The midfielder needs more minutes, and several teams continue to watch his situation closely. It would not be strange if interest returned if the market pushed that way.

Simeone could cause one of the summer’s big stories
The conclusion inside Camp Nou is becoming quite clear with everything moving around Atlético. Balde appears as the name with real bombshell potential if the Madrid club decide to push seriously. Casadó, although colder today, has also been part of Atlético’s radar recently.
If Simeone’s club finally move for either of them, the noise will be enormous. Touching a player formed in La Masia always carries special weight in the Barça environment. Even more in a summer that looks set to be shaped by sales, Financial Fair Play and difficult decisions.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported interest and market planning, not an official negotiation completed between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
