Marcus Rashford is again appearing in an important file inside FC Barcelona’s market. The Englishman ends his loan and must formally return to Manchester United this summer. However, Barça have reportedly not closed the door completely to his continuity.
The key lies in the formula, because Barça do not want a permanent transfer. A purchase option appears too heavy for the club’s current financial situation. Instead, another loan could keep the scenario alive during the coming weeks.
Barça only consider one formula
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barça would be open to keeping Rashford only through a loan. The club would not be willing to pay a transfer fee for the English forward. That stance fits the economic caution maintained by the sporting department.
Barça need attacking reinforcements, but cannot commit huge money without important exits. Deco and Hansi Flick want competitive solutions that do not increase squad costs. That is why Rashford remains an option only if United renegotiate.
The operation depends much more on Manchester United than on Barcelona right now. United must decide whether to recover the player or open another temporary exit. They could also push for a sale if clubs are ready to pay.
Rashford still has a European market
Rashford still carries an important name in Europe despite recent inconsistency. His speed, power and international experience remain attractive arguments for many clubs. He can also play from the left, centrally or attacking open spaces.
Barça value that versatility, especially in an increasingly demanding fixture calendar. Flick needs attackers capable of changing matches without guaranteed starting status. There, Rashford could fit if the role and cost make sense.
The main problem continues to be his salary and total operation cost. Barça do not want to repeat recent mistakes with their wage structure. Every move must be measured carefully to avoid blocking other summer priorities.
The player’s will may be decisive
Rashford has already made clear that Barça are a very attractive destination. His adaptation to the blaugrana environment was followed closely by the sporting department. Playing in Spain also keeps him inside an elite and visible competition.
If the player insists on staying, United could face a complicated scenario. His will may limit offers and strongly influence conversations between the clubs. Barça, meanwhile, will wait without leaving their financially conservative position.
That calm is part of Barça’s strategy in an uncertain market window. The club do not want to show urgency, because that increases prices. If Rashford really prioritises Barcelona, time could help Deco.
United have the final word
Manchester United must also decide Rashford’s role inside their new project. Keeping him without sporting confidence could create a financial and dressing-room problem. So, a loan with favourable conditions may become an intermediate solution.
Barça do not want major risks, but they do not rule out opportunity. Rashford is liked, but only if the deal fits Barça’s terms. That is the line between a possible return and a definitive goodbye.
For now, there is no agreement or closed negotiation between the parties. The player still belongs to Manchester United, while Barça keep other priorities open. But if Manchester accept a loan conversation, Rashford will return strongly to the scene.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement for Marcus Rashford to continue at Barça. The operation remains dependent on Manchester United and the loan formula. No permanent transfer has been confirmed.
