Barça Femeni kicked off the season in spectacular fashion, netting eight goals against Alhama, and repeated the feat on Sunday with a decisive 8-1 victory over Athletic Club at San Mames.
Vicky López opened the scoring after just 15 minutes, followed by a stunning goal from Patri near the halfway line, making it 2-0.
The onslaught didn’t stop there. Ewa Pajor secured a brace before the halftime whistle, giving Barcelona Atletico a commanding 4-0 lead.
An unfortunate own goal from Athletic put Barca Atletico up 5-0, though the hosts managed to pull one back.
It was merely a consolation, however. Aitana added another, making it 6-1, while Lopez and Bonmati each scored again to complete their braces and cement a commanding victory.
For FC Barcelona fans, this is as thrilling a start to the season as one could hope for.
