Opposition Report: RCD Mallorca

Barca’s first game after the International break is away against the island club of RCD Mallorca at Son Moix.

The international break could not have been any worse for Barca. Several key players have picked up injuries that will see them miss some huge games in the month of October. Just when you thought you couldn’t hate the international break any more, this happens. Barca have suffered some huge blows in defence with both Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo picking up injuries that will have them miss some substantial action in the league as well as the UCL.

The bad news doesn’t stop there. Frenkie De Jong picked up an injury(albeit a minor one) and Ousmane Dembele also ended up with some discomfort. This is where Barca’s insane squad depth comes into play. These injuries are terrible news for Xavi and the team but also an oppotunity for players like Ferran, Franck Kessie, Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen to step up.

RCD Mallorca

Barca wil kick things off with a game against Mallorca who have had a decent start to the season with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. They are currently in 10th position and just 3 points away from an European spot. Mallorca are coached by Javier Aguirre, nicknamed El Vasco( the Basque), is a Mexican coach and former professional football player.

Over the summer Mallorca have brought in Vedat Muriqi (FW), Pablo Maffeo (DF), Predrag Rajkovic (GK), Rodrigo Battaglia (MF) and Josep Copete (DF). El Vasco likes playing a 4-3-3 formation. This season’s current stand-out performer for Mallorca has been Lee Kang-In who has already picked up 3 assists. The 21-year old from South Korea has become an essential cog in Javier Aguirre’s system. Mallorca will be backed by a boisterous home crowd and will look to stun the visitors.

Barca have a trend of having a massive drop-off in performances immediately after the international break. This absolutely can’t happen this time as some crucial games are coming up. The team must maintain their resolve and prove they are worthy of being Champions.

Visca el Barca!
