Get ready for a tale of triumph and sheer football brilliance at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. Our Barça Women, mixing undeniable starters like Aitana, Walsh, Paredes, and Cata Coll with some fresh faces and youth talents, took the field with fire in their eyes. And boy, did they deliver against Sporting de Huelva, a team struggling at the bottom but no match for our ladies’ prowess.

The Game Unfolds

The stage was set with nearly 4,000 fans cheering on, and the game? It was nothing short of a soccer symphony. Right from the whistle, it was all Barça. The team from Huelva barely got a look in, hunkering down in defense and hoping for a miracle that never came.

Torrejón kicked things off by presenting the Supercopa title to the fans, setting the tone for what was about to unfold. Brugts led the line, but it was Claudia Pina who stole the spotlight early on, breaking the deadlock with a free-kick so perfect, it deserved a frame. The Montcada i Reixach native was everywhere, trying shots from every angle and driving the attack alongside Brugts and Bruna.

Sporting tried their best, but Aitana’s cunning play soon won a penalty, coolly converted by Pina for a 2-0 lead. With the opposition posing no threat, the first half ended with Barça in complete control, thanks to more than 80% possession and a relentless assault on Sporting’s goal.

Enter Graham Hansen

The second half brought Caroline Graham Hansen into the mix, elevating the game to another level with her undeniable talent. Pina kept the pressure with a one-on-one chance, and soon after, Hansen dazzled, making it 3-0 with a sublime finish.

Mariona added to the onslaught but it was Esme Brugts, somewhat quiet till then, who sealed the deal. Assisted by a rampant Hansen, Brugts found the net, marking her fifth league goal. Slowly but surely, she’s finding her rhythm, gearing up for an explosive season finale.

A Milestone to Remember

But the story doesn’t end with just a win. Barça Women have crossed an epic milestone – over 400 goals at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, with a jaw-dropping average of 5.1 goals per game. Led first by Lluís Cortés and now Jonatan Giráldez, our team has shown defensive solidity too, conceding just 26 goals across this period.

Jennifer Hermoso tops the scoring charts at Johan Cruyff with 51 goals, a testament to the spectacle that is Barça Women’s football.
