Barcelona have been rocked by a major offer after a Saudi club placed more than €60 million on the table for one of Hansi Flick’s most valued players. It is not just any squad member either. This is one of the footballers the German coach considers essential to the structure of his project.
That is exactly why the situation caused so much noise around the club. In the current financial context, an offer of that size is impossible to ignore completely. Even so, there is one decisive factor that has completely shaped the outcome.
And it came directly from the player himself.
A massive offer that caught everyone’s attention
The club that made the move was Al-Qadsiah. Their proposal reportedly went beyond €60 million, a very significant figure for Barcelona given the constant need to balance accounts and protect room for future operations.
The financial package did not stop there. The Saudi side were also prepared to offer a four-year contract worth around €9.5 million net per season, making the overall proposal even more powerful from a personal point of view.
For many clubs, and for many players, that would have opened the door to serious negotiations. Barcelona, however, did not act like a club desperate to sell. That calm response already revealed that the situation was not as straightforward as the numbers might suggest.
Dani Olmo made the key decision
The player at the centre of the story is Dani Olmo, and his stance has been absolutely decisive. From the very beginning, the Spanish attacker made it clear that he had no intention of entertaining the move.
There were no serious talks, no willingness to explore the proposal and no sign of hesitation. Olmo rejected the offer outright and made it clear that his intention is to continue at Barcelona.
That decision immediately froze the entire operation. Once the player closed the door, there was no real path left for the deal to develop. His priority is to remain in Europe and continue competing at the highest possible level.

Interest in Olmo goes far beyond Saudi Arabia
This is not an isolated case. Dani Olmo continues to attract attention from several major clubs across Europe, which only underlines how highly rated he remains in the market.
Among the clubs linked with him, Arsenal are one of the names that have appeared most strongly. There has also been interest from other teams in the Premier League and in Ligue 1, all drawn by his technical quality, versatility and experience in elite-level football.
He is a player who can fit into multiple systems and different attacking roles, which makes him especially attractive for ambitious clubs. But so far, every approach has run into the same obstacle.
Olmo does not want to leave Barcelona.
Flick sees him as a key piece
Inside the club, the sporting view is just as firm. Flick considers Olmo an essential player because of the way he moves between lines, creates superiority and gives the attack more intelligence and unpredictability.
That is why Barcelona are not treating him as a sellable asset in normal circumstances. Unless something completely extraordinary happens, the club’s idea is to keep him as part of the core group for the coming seasons.
With the player also fully committed to staying, the picture becomes very clear. There is no active intention to sell, and there is no willingness from Olmo to listen to alternatives.

A clear answer to the market
This case leaves a strong message in a transfer market that often revolves around money above everything else. Not every big offer leads to a sale, especially when both the club and the player are pulling in the same direction.
Barcelona did not want to part ways with one of Flick’s favourites. Dani Olmo had no interest in walking away from the project. That combination was enough to stop a huge operation before it could really begin.
More than €60 million were on the table, but the answer was still the same: Dani Olmo is staying.
