It’s the final stretch of the season, and with only 5 remaining games left of the league campaign, the month of May really is crunch time. And as we turn our attention back to La Liga, after yet another grueling game in midweek, its another vital game. This time, live from 9pm local time its Barça against Real Valladolid.
For one of the first times all season, its set to be a game where major rotations are made. Ahead of a massive week in Europe, its so important that the right players are rested but still with the intention of keeping the side competitive in what is another very important game in La Liga. Let’s jump straight into the preview.
A Quick Look at our oppponent:
When it comes to our opponent for the game tonight, Real Valladolid are set to be the first relegated side of the league season. Sitting in 20th place, rock bottom of the table. They have not only scored the least amount of goals all season with a total of 24. But they are the team in La Liga who have conceded the most goals, 81.
To put that into perspective, Barça are the team that have scored the most goals. 8 more than that of Valladolid’s conceded. So on paper, its the top scorers of the league up against the team who has conceded the most. But that’s only on paper. With the amount of rotations expected from us later tonight, its will probably turn out to be a more evenly contested game than assumed. But of course, we’ll have to wait and see.
Predicted lineup:
Heavy rotations are expected tonight, ahead of a huge game at the San Siro in midweek, its probably the one game we have left this season where we could rotate an gives some much needed rest to some of our most key players. And that’s exactly what id be doing.
According to the media and Flick himself, Ter Stegen will most likely make his return between the sticks. I’d definitely be looking at giving Yamal, Pedri, Cubarsi, Iñigo and possibly even Ferran a rest. With all these rotations and changes in the lineup, it could give some exciting opportunities to players like Ansu, Pau Victor, Torre and Fort who haven’t had many minutes this season. So that in itself, is something to look forward too in yet another vitally important game in La Liga.
My starting lineup:
Ter Stegen
Fort- Christensen- Araujo- Martin
Gavi- Frenkie
Victor- Torre- Ansu
Ferran
