Once again, we’re back in action only a couple days after our last game. And it’s another big one, its the 2nd leg of our champions league quarter final showdown against Borussia Dortmund. Live from 9pm local time, for the second time this season we’re back at the Signal Iduna Park. It’s a big one, so lets jump straight into it!
A Quick Look at our opponents:
Tonight will be the third and final time this season we face off against the iconic German side. And as I mentioned above, the second time we’ll be playing away in Dortmund.
As a team they’re missing a few key players, especially Schlotterbeck in defence as well as Sabitzer, and Emre Can is also a doubt. The captain missed training yesterday. In the first leg, we were able to get under Karim Adeyemi’s skin quite a lot and to be honest he was lucky not to be sent off. He’ll be another threat from tonight, fortunately for us we worked hard in the first leg to get a decent buffer heading into this second leg. But again, nothing can be taken for granted, we’re going to have to work and suffer again in tonight’s game. So lets see how we could lineup.
Predicted lineup:
Now because of the healthy aggregate score, the debate coming into tonight’s game has been how many rotations we will see. On the weekend against Leganes, Flick went very strong and we sadly have now lost Balde to a minor hamstring injury that will keep him out for a couple weeks. And that is a massive blow, as now we have to rely on Martin. Who hasn’t yet had an opppurtunity like he is going to have now.
For me, there’s 3 players i would rotate. And that is Pedri, Yamal and Iñigo. Pedri and Yamal for obvious reasons, they’ve played a lot of football.
Lamine especially doesn’t get much rest an usually stays on the pitch all game. Tonight would be the game to at least just start him from the bench. Pedri too. Flick has to be smarter in this regard especially with these two in particular.
And Iñigo I’d be resting as not only do i think Araujo will suit this kind of game more. But he is also one yellow away from suspension and we cant afford that to happen. So for me, those are the 3 id be looking at resting. We have enough depth in those areas to make the rotations.
My starting lineup:
Tek
Kounde- Cubarsi- Araujo- Martin
Gavi- Frenkie
Raphinha- Fermin- Ferran
Lewandowski
