The experienced defender has reportedly been offered to Barcelona, but an external factor could make any move difficult during this transfer window.
FC Barcelona continue exploring different options to strengthen the defense before the transfer window closes. In recent hours, Aymeric Laporte has emerged as one of the names under consideration by Deco’s sporting department. However, any potential deal remains far from being advanced.
Laporte is one of the options on the table
According to recent reports, Laporte has been offered to Barça as a possible defensive reinforcement. The Spanish international brings experience, leadership and proven quality at the highest level. His profile fits the type of player Hansi Flick would welcome into his squad.
Despite that, Barcelona have not launched an official move to sign the defender. His name is simply one of several options currently being evaluated by the sporting department. No advanced negotiations have taken place at this stage.
One obstacle could block the operation
Beyond the sporting aspect, a significant obstacle could complicate any potential transfer. Reports suggest that the current relationship between FC Barcelona and Athletic Club is not at its best. That situation could make negotiations more difficult if the Blaugrana decide to pursue the deal.
Because of that uncertainty, Deco continues to assess alternative targets. The club wants to avoid committing to a complicated operation if better opportunities emerge elsewhere. Every possible signing is being carefully evaluated.
Barça keep every option open
Strengthening the defensive line remains a possibility for Barcelona, but no single candidate has become the undisputed priority. The club is searching for a player capable of raising the team’s level while fitting both Hansi Flick’s project and the club’s Financial Fair Play requirements. Patience remains a key part of the strategy.
For now, Aymeric Laporte is simply one of several names on Barça’s shortlist. The twist is clear: the defender interests Barcelona, but external complications could ultimately force Deco to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between FC Barcelona and Aymeric Laporte, and the reported interest has not progressed into formal transfer negotiations.
