FC Barcelona escaped from Belgium with a hard-fought 3–3 draw against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League 2025/26. Hansi Flick’s team never managed to take the lead at the Jan Breydel Stadium, but thanks to the brilliance of Lamine Yamal, they rescued a vital point that could prove decisive in their group campaign. The 18-year-old scored a spectacular goal and forced the own goal that sealed the final score.
First Half Chaos with Three Goals in 17 Minutes
The match started with intensity and plenty of action. Brugge struck first when Carlos Forbs broke down the right side and assisted Nicolò Tresoldi for the opening goal in the sixth minute. The reaction from Barcelona was immediate. Lamine Yamal picked out Fermín López on the wing, who sent in a perfect cross for Ferran Torres to equalize at 1–1 only two minutes later.
After that, the visitors began to control the tempo of the game, but a misplaced corner turned into disaster. Brugge counterattacked at full speed and Tzolis assisted Forbs again, putting the Belgians 2–1 ahead in the 17th minute.
Barcelona had several chances before halftime. Koundé struck the crossbar with a powerful effort and Ferran came close to a second goal after an exquisite through ball from Lamine. Despite the dominance, the scoreline stayed unchanged at the break.
Lamine Yamal’s Messi-Like Moment
The second half began with Barcelona pushing higher up the pitch and their patience was rewarded. In the 60th minute, Lamine Yamal produced a moment of pure brilliance. He skipped past two defenders with dazzling control and finished calmly past Jackers to make it 2–2. It was a goal that reminded fans of Leo Messi’s famous strike against Real Madrid in 2011.
Unfortunately for Flick’s side, the celebration was short-lived. Just four minutes later, Brugge regained the lead when Forbs completed his brace after a quick combination with Vanaken. Once again, Barcelona’s defensive line was caught off guard and Szczesny could not prevent the 3–2.
Despite the setback, Barça continued to create danger. Lamine remained unstoppable on the right, forcing the goalkeeper into another brilliant save.
Late Equalizer Brings Relief to Flick’s Team
In the 77th minute, Yamal once again became decisive. He drove forward on the right flank and delivered a curling cross toward Lewandowski. Under pressure, Christos Tzolis accidentally headed the ball into his own net for the 3–3. The Barcelona bench erupted in relief after finally restoring parity.
The closing minutes were full of tension. Brugge had a goal disallowed by VAR for a foul on Szczesny, while Barça tried to find a late winner through Olmo and Bardghji. After eight minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle confirmed a valuable draw for Flick’s men.
A Point That Keeps Barcelona Alive
Although the performance was far from perfect, the result leaves Barcelona with options in the Champions League group. The defense still needs improvement, but the team showed resilience and character. Lamine Yamal once again proved to be the spark that keeps the club dreaming, combining talent, confidence and personality in another memorable night.
