Alejandro Balde is back in the market when Barça wanted calm. Manchester City would reportedly prepare an offer that could reach €70 million. The news has created noise, although Barça say they know nothing formal.
For now, Barça are not considering any clear movement around the left-back. The information is being received with caution inside the Catalan club. Even so, a figure like that always forces attention in the offices.
City need full-backs and look towards Barcelona
Manchester City are going through a rebuilding process under huge pressure. The left-back position has been sensitive for several seasons in England. That is why Balde fits an ambitious and very specific search.
The Barça player has speed, stamina, depth and outstanding physical power. He is still young and has major room for elite development. That combination makes his profile very attractive in the international market.
For Barça, however, the operation would not be comfortable sportingly. Balde was formed at La Masia and carries major symbolic value. His exit would force an immediate replacement in a very delicate position.
Barça do not want to gift away a key piece
Balde’s contract until 2028 gives Barça a strong negotiating position. His release clause is also fixed at €1 billion. That does not prevent offers, but removes any immediate pressure.
The sporting department know €70 million would be very important financially. Fair Play continues to condition planning, registrations and market movements this summer. But Deco must also measure the sporting impact of losing him.
Inside the dressing room, Balde is seen as present and future. His speed stretches the pitch and creates constant depth on the left. His connection with attackers also helps Barça in tight and demanding matches.
The real doubt is the price
The debate begins when a huge offer meets an obvious financial need. €70 million for a full-back always forces very cold calculations. Especially at a Barça needing income to strengthen other positions.
The problem is that selling Balde would create another urgent file. Hansi Flick needs reliable, physical full-backs capable of sustaining long efforts. Losing him would force Barça to reinvest quickly in a replacement.
Barça have already lived too many markets shaped by difficult exits. That is why any major rumour activates alarms around the Camp Nou. Internally, however, the feeling is that no real case exists yet.
Balde has the final word
Manchester City can prepare money, but the player’s will remains decisive. Balde has never publicly shown a firm desire to leave FC Barcelona. His link with the club and homegrown growth still matter deeply.
In England, they know convincing Barça would not be enough alone. They also know the Catalan club would demand a very high figure. Nobody at Barça wants to show weakness before receiving a formal offer.
For now, Barça distrust the information and remain calm around him. But if City turn interest into a real proposal, everything could change quickly. Balde remains blaugrana, although €70 million can make any office nervous.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement for Alejandro Balde to leave Barça.
