Elche maintains its unbeaten streak with one win and three draws over the past four matches, the latest being this Friday against Sevilla in the start of the matchday. The Sánchez Pizjuán stadium hosted a match that also marked the debut of Héctor Fort, who is on loan from Barça to the team from Elche.
The Franjiverdes came back from an early goal by Isaac Romero with two goals from André Silva and Rafa Mir, but saw Peque equalize at two just five minutes before the end, closing the scoreboard. Eder Sarabia’s men were close to claiming their second victory of the season following their win against Levante, but the win slipped away at the last moment.
The match also saw the debut of the Les Corts defender, who came on in the 80th minute replacing Chust, and who experienced a bittersweet moment as Sevilla leveled the score while he was on the field.
There was little time for the young Blaugrana to participate. He had recently joined the training sessions as he was previously with the Spanish U-20 National Team preparing for the upcoming World Cup in Chile.
Unseen Iñaki Peña
Meanwhile, the Alicante goalkeeper, also on loan from Barça this season to Elche, remained on the bench again. He has not played in any of the four La Liga matches and Matías Dituro was once again Sarabia’s choice to guard the goalposts.
Iñaki Peña was a specific request by the coach, but it seems he is opting to keep his teammate in the lineup for now. The team’s good results and the few goals conceded are Sarabia’s reasons for not changing what seems to be working well in goal.
