After the Valladolid match, the team played against Real Madrid. The Catalans had more time to prepare and rest, meanwhile, Madrid had a game against Liverpool a few days earlier. Both of the teams had had several injuries and key players were left out of the starting eleven. Barcelona’s lineup was full of young, promising but inexperienced payers. They have been playing together for a while now but we could say this is yet to be a complete team. Despite the outcome of the match, there were few decent performances worth mentioning. One of them was Oscar Mingueza so let’s see how he did!
First half
The team started the match with a 3 center-backs system. Mingueza started as one of the center-backs meanwhile Sergino Dest got the right-wing. Mingueza stopped several Madrid attacks coming from the middle, however, he and Dest had problems with stopping Vinicius. They played very high on the pitch with the constant risk that the opponent could make dangerous runs on the wings.
Second half
In the second half, the team went back to the classic 4-3-3 system, Dest came off and Mingueza got the right-wing. Despite, he’s still new at the team, he is very reliable with the ball most of the time. He had problems keeping up with the opponent’s counter-attacks in the second half too but the conceded goals in the first half did not come from his mistakes. In fact, he gave hope to the team with his goal in the 60th minute. Thanks to Jordi Alba’s nice ball to the middle he scored an interesting goal.
Despite the team didn’t win, I’m sure he will remember this goal for the rest of his life because not many players can tell that they scored on their first EL Clasico.
