Robert Lewandowski’s future remains completely open and, for now, no final decision has been made. A few days ago, Cadena SER reported that Barcelona still had not presented a formal renewal offer or concrete financial conditions. That complicates the striker’s choice because other clubs have already moved much more clearly.
That detail changes the entire picture of Barça’s summer. The forward cannot truly compare staying in Barcelona with the alternatives abroad if the club do not put numbers, duration and role on the table. And that lack of definition arrives just as the market begins to push from several directions.
Inside Barça, Lewandowski’s case does not depend only on money or the player’s will. The sporting plan explained by Hansi Flick also matters a lot, because the Polish striker’s main doubt is whether he will remain a central piece or move into a more secondary role. That combination of uncertainty keeps everything open.
Barça hesitate while other clubs move
The information from Cadena SER is very clear on that point. Although there have been recent meetings between the parties, the club still have not delivered an official proposal or financial terms for one more season. That leaves Lewandowski in an uncomfortable position because, while waiting for Barça, he already has much clearer projects on the table.
Among those alternatives are interests from MLS, the Saudi Pro League and also Italy. ESPN has spent weeks reporting that the striker would have real options if he decides to leave Camp Nou. Cadena SER also mentioned a proposal from Chicago Fire as one of the most concrete examples.
That is the big problem for Barcelona. The club want to maintain room for manoeuvre, but time is also working against them while the player receives clearer messages from elsewhere. If the board take too long defining their position, the summer could become much more uncomfortable.

Flick and the sporting role will decide everything
Lewandowski’s continuity cannot be understood without Flick’s role in the situation. The German coach renewed with the club until 2027, meaning his opinion on the striker’s future will carry huge weight. Barça must organise their attack and decide whether they still want to build around the Pole or begin a clearer transition.
Cadena SER also pointed out that a possible renewal would involve a significant salary reduction, something that complicates the situation even further. In other words, not only is there no formal proposal yet, but the framework of that continuity appears less comfortable than in previous seasons.
The conclusion right now is quite clear. Lewandowski has not made a final decision, but Barça have still not given him all the tools needed to make one. If the club truly want to keep him, they will soon need to move from vague conversations to a real proposal with figures, duration and a clearly explained sporting role.
