The Lee surname is once again attracting attention inside Barcelona’s academy this season. This time, it is because of Minguk Lee, a Korean prospect already shining with real force. His growth in Barça’s Under-15 team is turning him into one of the most interesting names.
The young right-back is producing a very strong campaign under Álex Fernández. His consistency, tactical maturity and impact on both sides of the pitch have been key. It is no surprise, then, that he led the weekly ideal eleven of Barça’s academy football.
Minguk is not just appearing in flashes or isolated moments during the season. He is becoming a reliable piece in a very demanding environment for young talents. That detail explains why his name is starting to gain more internal weight.
Minguk Lee has earned his place
Barça brought in Minguk this season, along with his brother Daehon Lee. Both arrived from Espanyol’s Infantil A, an important change in their recent development. Since then, both have taken a step forward inside the Barça structure.
In Minguk’s case, his evolution has been especially striking on the right side. He has established himself as the regular number two for the Under-15 side, although he can also play higher up. That ability to alternate roles without losing level increases his value inside the group.
He is not just a correct or disciplined player within the team’s collective structure. He is a full-back who already offers guarantees when defending and attacking. At such young ages, that always attracts major attention inside La Masia.
A modern and reliable full-back
Defensively, Minguk Lee is showing unusual security for his age. He measures duels well, corrects spaces and holds his flank with real firmness. That makes him a very useful piece to balance the team in demanding matches.
But what is surprising most is everything he contributes when reaching the opposition half. He has speed, quality and judgement to attack without breaking the team’s order. He also chooses very well when to cross and when to find better-placed teammates.
His crosses are becoming a constant source of danger for strikers and second-line runners. He does not simply run down the wing, because he also understands how to create advantages. That detail explains why he has become so important for Barça’s Under-15 side.
La Masia have another name to follow
In Barça’s 5-0 win over Granollers, he once again left very clear signs. He scored his second goal of the season and continued offering attacking solutions throughout the match. It was another performance that confirmed his huge growth over recent months.
Other names also shone in that game, including Unax Hernández, Adrián Sánchez and Héctor Asumu. Players such as Lucas Bernal, Jan Giral, Divine and Mamadou also made important contributions. Even so, Minguk again stood out with growing personality inside the group.
Barça know there is still a long way to go in his development. But they also recognise clear signs when a talent starts consolidating like this. For now, inside La Masia, the feeling is clear: Minguk Lee is very serious.
