Ferran Torres’ future is becoming complicated for Barcelona, but not because of a lack of interest. The forward has a very clear position and does not want to leave this summer under any circumstances. His idea is to renew with the club or, if no agreement arrives, stay until 2027.
That detail completely changes the reading of a situation that once looked more open. Inside the club, there was the possibility of selling him to generate important summer income. But the player’s will now forces Barça to rethink their entire attacking roadmap.
His contract situation also adds even more pressure inside the Camp Nou offices. Ferran has a deal until June 30, 2027, which has been officially confirmed by the club. That means, if he does not renew this summer, he will enter a much more delicate stage.
Everything depends on Lewandowski
The key to this story remains the immediate future of Robert Lewandowski. Barça still have not resolved what they will do with the Polish striker, and that decision conditions everything up front. If Lewandowski does not continue, Ferran’s renewal would gain much more strength.
That scenario makes sense within Barcelona’s attacking planning. If the Pole leaves, Ferran could gain weight as a striker or a much more important attacking piece. In that context, Barça would rather protect him than risk losing him for free.
The problem is that Lewandowski’s situation remains full of doubts at this stage. His current contract ends this summer, and his camp continues to assess options outside the club. Meanwhile, Barça have already sent him a renewal offer with a reduced salary.
Ferran does not want to leave
This is the major twist in Barça’s summer story. Ferran Torres not only does not want to leave, but is also ready to stretch the contractual scenario. If he does not receive a renewal, he could fulfil his deal and leave for free in 2027.
That leaves Barcelona in an uncomfortable position with very little room for error. The club do not want to lose important assets without receiving money in return. But they also cannot force an exit if the player’s position is so firm.
The conclusion inside the offices is becoming quite clear with everything on the table. Ferran Torres wants to stay, Barça do not yet have a closed decision, and everything depends on Lewandowski. The Valencian stands firm, pushes with his contract and forces the club to decide soon.
