Barcelona already have their summer roadmap quite well defined. According to the line marked by Fabrizio Romano, also picked up by outlets such as Cadena SER and Barça Blaugranes, the club’s main priorities are now a centre-forward and a winger. Any move for a centre-back will depend on exits and financial margin.
That nuance changes the reading of many defensive files that had sounded strong in recent weeks. Barça are not ruling out reinforcing the back line, but it is not currently the first level of urgency. Before that, the club want to solve the attack.
The need is clear after the uncertainty around Robert Lewandowski and the desire to add a decisive wide profile. Deco knows the team needs more goals, more verticality and more attacking alternatives. That is why most of the energy is now focused on the final third.
Deco looks at the attack
Inside Barça, the offensive priority is clear. Cadena SER explained that the club want to sign two forwards: one for the centre of attack and another for the wing. Names such as João Pedro, Julián Álvarez, Lautaro Martínez and even Mikel Oyarzabal appear in that internal debate.
That approach confirms that the club are placing most of their effort on solving the attack before the defence. Flick wants a more complete forward line, with a striker capable of leading the press and a winger able to break games. That is the market direction now being followed.
For that reason, although signing a centre-back remains possible, everything is much more conditioned. Romano has been suggesting that Barça’s spending depends on sales and whether the club can free enough margin. Without that previous step, opening another important operation in defence would be far more complicated.

Sales set the summer rhythm
The other major key is that Barça still have not fully activated the sales chapter. Cadena SER recalled that, to operate normally under the 1:1 rule, the club still need to resolve several economic matters. That includes pending income and at least one relevant exit before June 30.
That explains why Barça do not want to commit to too many expensive operations at the same time. The club must first know exactly how much money and salary margin they will have. Only then will Deco be able to decide which files can really move.
In other words, Barça are not giving up on strengthening central defence. They are simply placing that need in a secondary position until the attack and exits are better organised. That is why so many defensive files now look colder than they did a few weeks ago.
Barça’s message is clear
The conclusion around the club is quite evident right now. Barcelona are still attentive to the defence, but they will not move first for a centre-back while the number nine, the winger and sales remain unresolved. Deco’s immediate mission is to fix the attack and activate the exit market.
Only after that will the defensive market become clearer. If sales arrive and margin opens, Barça could return to some centre-back names. But today, the two signings they want to close first are very clear: a striker and a winger.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported planning from Fabrizio Romano, Cadena SER and Barça Blaugranes, not official completed operations from Barcelona.
