Barcelona are already shaping their plan for next season, and the message inside the club is becoming increasingly clear. Before new signings arrive, sales will have to come first. The sporting department, led by Deco, knows there is no room to move freely unless important decisions are made.
That is why two names have started to stand out in internal discussions. Ferran Torres and Marc Casadó are now seen as the two cases that could have the biggest impact on Barça’s summer strategy.
The situations are different, but the objective is exactly the same. Create financial and salary space to make the next phase of the rebuild possible.
Ferran Torres is the clearest case
Among the two, Ferran Torres appears to be the most obvious candidate to leave. The forward is under contract until 2027, but the club have still not made any move to extend his deal. That detail says a lot about how his current role is viewed internally.
It is not only about the contract. Barça have also had time to evaluate him properly on the pitch. He has received chances, minutes and stretches of real importance in the rotation. At different points, he has even been given more weight than other attacking options.
But the feeling inside the club is that he has not fully taken advantage of those opportunities.

Barça expected more from him
The biggest issue has been his lack of decisive impact in front of goal. Barcelona needed a more consistent attacking contribution, especially in important moments, and Ferran has not fully convinced in that area.
That has changed the mood around his future. What once looked like a player with a long-term place in the project is now increasingly viewed as a possible departure that would make sense for all sides.
There is also a major financial angle. Ferran is one of the players who could generate a significant transfer fee, and his departure would also reduce the wage bill. In the current context, that combination makes him a very valuable piece in the club’s summer puzzle.
That is why his case is being treated as more than just a sporting decision. It is becoming a strategic one.
Marc Casadó is a more delicate situation
The second name is Marc Casadó, although his case is much more nuanced. Unlike Ferran, his situation is not driven by disappointment or by a clear desire from the club to move him on.
Casadó is under contract until 2028 and has always made his intentions very clear. He wants to stay at Barcelona and build his future at the club. His commitment has never really been in doubt.
Even so, his name keeps appearing in transfer conversations. That is not random.

Market interest keeps growing around him
Several clubs have been monitoring Casadó closely in recent months. Atlético Madrid are one of the sides that have been most heavily linked with him, while there is also attention from other markets with strong spending power.
What makes the situation more interesting is that playing time could eventually become a factor. For now, Casadó’s mindset has not changed and he remains focused on succeeding at Barça. But the club know that the market can shift quickly, especially when there is growing demand for a young midfielder with his profile.
Because of that, Barcelona are not ruling anything out completely.
Everything depends on sales
These two cases fit directly into Deco’s summer roadmap. Barça want to strengthen key areas of the squad, including the attack, where Julián Álvarez remains one of the dream targets. The club are also looking at defensive reinforcements and at the possibility of adding another promising winger.
But none of that becomes realistic without departures first.
That is the key point shaping the entire summer. Without sales, there is no financial margin. And without financial margin, there are no major signings.
So while the transfer window has not yet fully exploded, Barcelona already know where some of the biggest decisions could begin.
Ferran Torres and Marc Casadó are the two names Deco has marked as potential sacrifices.
