Roony Bardghji could become one of FC Barcelona’s unexpected exits this summer. According to Ferran Correas in SPORT, the winger has already informed his agent of his desire. The player wants to look for regular minutes after a season with very little continuity.
The situation does not mean a definitive break between Roony and the blaugrana club. Barça still value his potential, his daily attitude and his room for growth. However, the footballer needs to compete more often to avoid slowing down an evolution considered important.
The big problem has a clear name: Lamine Yamal, untouchable for Hansi Flick. The German coach has reportedly already told Roony that it will be very difficult for him to get important minutes. With Lamine ahead of him, the Swede knows his immediate path is heavily blocked.
Lamine changes the whole scenario
Roony arrived at Barça as a young, cheap and highly talented attacking bet. The club signed him from Copenhagen and tied him down until 2029. His left foot, dribbling and ability to start from the right generated significant expectations.
The initial plan was to give him time, adaptation and progressive opportunities throughout the season. But Lamine’s growth has changed every prediction in that position. Flick sees the academy star as a fundamental piece and leaves very little competitive space behind him.
According to SPORT, Flick values Roony’s attitude and his performances in training. Even so, the coaching staff expected a bigger impact when Lamine was injured. That opportunity did not end up changing his situation in Barça’s rotation.
The player prefers a loan
Roony does not want to leave Barça permanently this summer if he can avoid it. His preferred idea would be to go out on loan, play regularly and return with more experience. That formula would protect his future without completely cutting his link with the club.
A loan would make sporting sense, especially for a footballer who needs weekly competitive rhythm. At his age, accumulating training sessions without important matches can become a serious problem. That is why his camp has already started conversations with the blaugrana sporting department.
Barça also understand that a temporary exit could help recover his competitive value. If Roony plays a lot in another context, he would return better prepared to fight for a place. The key will be choosing a destination where he truly has prominence and attacking responsibility.
A sale is also on the table
Although a loan is the player’s preferred route, Barça are not ruling out other scenarios. A permanent sale could generate useful income to help complete new signings in the market. Even then, the club would hardly let him go without protecting his future.
The most likely formula, if there were a sale, would include a buy-back option or some kind of future control. Barça do not want to fully lose a talent they still consider interesting. That protection would be key to avoid losing him completely if he explodes away from Camp Nou.
The club’s economic situation forces every operation to be assessed coldly. Deco needs margin to strengthen the squad and every exit can help. Roony is not a priority sale, but he is a file that is starting to move.
Flick has already been clear
Flick’s message seems honest: he appreciates the player, but cannot promise him minutes. On the right, Lamine Yamal sets the order of priorities in a very clear way. And in a Barça side that wants to compete for everything, opportunities will become even more expensive.
The club are also still working on attacking reinforcements to raise the team’s level. That could reduce the space even further for a young winger who needs continuity. Roony understands he must make an important decision before becoming stuck.
The outcome is not closed yet, but conversations have already started. Barça will study the best exit without losing control over his future development. And that is the twist: Roony wants to return, but first he needs to leave in order to play.
