The FC Barcelona scouting department is searching for left-footed central defenders for the next season, and one of the names on their list, as previously mentioned in MD, is the young Luiz Gustavo Benedetti (19 years old), a player from Palmeiras. He is also attracting interest from other European clubs like Arsenal and Napoli. The departure of Iñigo Martínez to Al-Nassr left Barça without this profile, and Benedetti fits as a promising option.
Benedetti is delivering outstanding performances, and in Brazil, it’s reported that Palmeiras has set a minimum price of 15 million euros to let go of one of their top talents. Several outlets claim that Barça is one of the clubs most interested in acquiring Benedetti, and they might even be ready to submit a 12 million euro offer for the promising defender.
Under contract with Palmeiras until 2029, Benedetti has played in nine first-team matches for ‘Verdao’ and recently contributed to winning the Brasileirao Sub-20. His excellent performance has not gone unnoticed, and he is likely to be called up for the Brazilian team in the U-20 World Cup.
Barça plans to send scouts to the tournament to observe the best talents on the planet and will undoubtedly keep a close eye on Benedetti.
