Elena Fort Addresses Delay in Spotify Camp Nou Opening
Elena Fort, Vice President of Institutional Affairs at FC Barcelona, explained the delay in the partial opening of Spotify Camp Nou and the decision to play the LaLiga match against Valencia at Estadi Johan Cruyff. She emphasized that “we worked until the last moment to obtain all necessary permits, but it wasn’t possible.” She assured fans that once they realized they couldn’t meet the September 14 deadline, they communicated this promptly. The first part of the construction, however, “is completed.”
Response to Valencia’s Criticism
In an interview with Catalunya Ràdio and RAC1, Fort admitted that the delay in the decision is “certainly not usual,” addressing complaints from Valencia players, who had called it “incredible” not to know the venue of the match five days beforehand.
Priority to Loyal Supporters
Fort highlighted that all seating, except those for rival commitments and institutional functions, is prioritized for members, especially those who “made the effort to be in Montjuïc over the last two years.” She stated that there won’t be passes, but rather “directed ticket sales.” Ticket prices range between 42 and 78 euros, she revealed.
Compliance with Safety Regulations
The Vice President wanted to “highlight the work of the club and the city council” for the Estadi opening, but emphasized that regulations must be followed, prioritizing safety. “We hope that next week the bureaucratic aspect will be resolved,” she said, while confirming that “the work of the first phase is finished” and only documentation needs settling. However, she couldn’t assure that the match against Getafe on September 21 will be at Camp Nou.
Future Plans for Matches
“We hope to receive authorization soon,” Fort stated, without specifying the exact date, and mentioned that they are not considering combining Montjuïc with Spotify Camp Nou in the Champions League. “We are working to start at Camp Nou on October 1,” she said, noting that “Montjuïc is reserved until February.”
Details on the Construction Contract
Fort stressed that they haven’t suffered from “excessive optimism” and that relations with Limak, the construction company, are good, “although there are always disagreements.” At the end of the contract, they will review whether there has been any breach, but “never in the middle of a contract.”
