The striker prioritises renewing with Bayern, but Deco will remain attentive if he opens the door.
FC Barcelona have tried to explore one of the most ambitious operations in Europe. The blaugrana club contacted Harry Kane’s camp to understand his situation at Bayern Munich. The response, however, was clear: right now his priority is renewing in Germany.
The English striker has not opened the door to immediate negotiations with Barça. He feels comfortable in Munich, important in the team and committed to the Bavarian project. But if Kane changes position and accepts listening, Barça will move for him.
Deco tests a huge move
Barça’s movement confirms Deco is still searching for a top international striker. The Julián Álvarez file remains the priority, but it carries huge difficulties. That is why the club are analysing other names capable of leading the attack.
Kane would fit through experience, goals, hierarchy and big-game decision-making. He is not a promise or a future bet, but an elite-proven striker. Hansi Flick would have an immediate reference to compete in the Champions League.
Barça know such an operation would not be simple because of salary, age and contract situation. Even so, asking about Kane shows the club want to be prepared. If Bayern fail to close his renewal, the scenario could change quickly.
Kane prioritises Bayern
The response from the player’s camp was cold for Barça’s interests. Kane does not want to rush or feed rumours while Bayern remain his priority. The striker feels comfortable in Germany and is not pushing to leave now.
Bayern Munich also want to protect one of the major leaders of their attack. His contract ends in 2027, but the club want to avoid future uncertainty. Renewing him would close the door to Barça and other possible suitors.
That is the biggest obstacle for Deco, because wanting the player is not enough. Kane must be willing to listen, and Bayern must accept negotiations. For now, neither condition seems truly on the table.
Flick looks for a reliable number nine
Barça’s interest has obvious sporting logic inside Flick’s new project. The club need a striker who guarantees goals, presence and immediate competitive leadership. Kane represents exactly that proven star profile which reduces sporting risk.
The Englishman can pin centre-backs, combine between lines and finish with huge efficiency. He also has experience under maximum pressure and an elite reading of the game. For a young Barça, his arrival would have immediate impact everywhere.
The problem is that his signing does not easily fit Barça’s economic reality. His salary would be very high, and Bayern negotiations would need a complex formula. That is why the case remains a monitored opportunity, not an active operation.
Barça do not close the door
The current position is clear: Kane wants to renew, but Barça will keep watching. Deco knows the market changes quickly when renewals stall or economic differences appear. If the striker shows willingness to listen, the blaugrana club will move again.
Barça cannot wait forever because they need to solve their striker position this summer. Julián Álvarez, Kane and other profiles form part of a huge strategic debate. Flick wants goals, but also a piece that immediately gives meaning to the attack.
Today, signing Kane looks very difficult because the player looks first to Bayern. But the contact already proves Barça are thinking big to replace their offensive reference. The twist is clear: the door is closed for now, but Deco will keep watching the lock for any crack.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between Barça, Bayern Munich and Harry Kane.
